We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced book formatter to prepare a manuscript for upload to Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) and IngramSpark for preorder. The contractor will be responsible for converting the finalized manuscript into the appropriate file formats required by both platforms, ensuring the files meet the specific technical and quality requirements.

Responsibilities:

Format the manuscript for both eBook and paperback versions according to KDP and IngramSpark guidelines.
Ensure the interior layout is clean, professional, and consistent across all formats.
Convert the manuscript into the required file formats (e.g., .mobi, .epub, PDF).
Embed fonts and ensure that images, graphics, and tables (if applicable) display correctly on various devices.
Adjust page numbering, margins, headers, and footers as necessary for both eBook and print editions.
Create a Table of Contents (TOC) for the eBook version (if needed) that links correctly to chapters or sections.
Optimize files for distribution on both KDP and IngramSpark, adhering to the specific submission requirements for each platform.
Review and troubleshoot any file conversion issues that may arise during the uploading process.
Qualifications:

Proven experience formatting books for KDP and IngramSpark.
Proficiency with file conversion tools and software, including Adobe InDesign, Microsoft Word, Scrivener, and Calibre.
Strong knowledge of book publishing standards, including file formats (.epub, .mobi, PDF), image resolutions, and font embedding.
Attention to detail and ability to troubleshoot and resolve formatting issues.
Familiarity with KDP and IngramSpark technical requirements and submission processes.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently under tight deadlines.
Deliverables:

Final files ready for upload to KDP (eBook and paperback).
Final files ready for upload to IngramSpark (paperback or hardcover, depending on the client's needs).
Instructions or support in the upload process, if necessary.
