Responsibilities:

1. Perform qualitative and quantitative analysis of patient records in a large naval medical facility for compliance with joint commissions on accreditation of healthcare organizations (jchao) as well as with hospital guidelines for medical care and processing of inpatient medical records.
2. Perform weekly quality assurance audit reviews of random inpatient medical records analyzed by myself and others in my department in order to ensure records are complete, and accurate, use correct terminology, and adhere to regulatory and legal guidelines.
3. Appropriately examine electronic health records (ehrs) to ensure proper sequence of documents, presence of proper reports and signatures, and inclusion of sufficient data to document diagnosis, treatment rendered, results obtained and quality patient care.
4. Regularly consult with the medical and hospital staff, and other personnel to provide information, ask questions or make requests regarding inpatient medical records that require my understanding of complex medical terminology.
5. Cross-reference numerous hospital medical systems to verify patient demographic information with data from medical records.
6. Current health care systems used are: chcs, ahlta, 3m and essentris. I also make additions/corrections to patient data utilizing these systems as necessary.
7. Demonstrates an understanding of patient confidentiality to protect the patient and clinic/corporation

Requirements

MUST HAVE AN EXCELLENT COMMAND OF ENGLISH WRITTEN AND SPOKEN
Minimum of 1 year of experience
Ability to use internal electronic-based record workflow systems such as Microsoft Office and Google Suite, Excel, etc.
Attention to detail.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, production-oriented environment
High level of reliability, productivity, and professionalism
Good communication skills, both written and oral
The ability to work independently and be productive with little supervision
This is a full-time job (40 HOURS WEEKLY) and the right candidate MUST be able to work in the PST timezone
