Description: I’m an independent publisher seeking a talented writer to collaborate on an exciting self-help book project. The book, tentatively titled Authentic Assertiveness: Breaking Free from the People-Pleasing Trap and Living Boldly, is aimed at helping readers overcome the habit of people-pleasing and step into their authentic, confident selves. This job will be completed in two phases: ________________________________________ Phase 1: Paid Sample • Scope: Write a 1,000-word sample based on one chapter from the provided outline. • Budget: $25. • Timeline: 7 days from the date of selection. • Goal: Showcase your ability to capture the right tone (compassionate, friendly, and empowering) and deliver actionable, research-backed insights. • Details: Outline will be provided only to a few selected candidates after screening. ________________________________________ Phase 2: Full Book • Scope: Write the full manuscript of approximately 35,000 words, based on the full outline provided upon selection. • Budget: $800. • Timeline: To be negotiated with milestones and deadlines. • Requirements: o Must deliver 100% original work—AI can only be used for research and rough draft purposes, but the final submission must be fully human-written. o Write in US English with complete fluency and a conversational tone that resonates with readers. ________________________________________ What I’m Looking For: • Experience in Writing: Prior experience with self-help, personal development, or nonfiction projects is a major plus. • Strong Writing Skills: Ability to write in a style that is engaging, empathetic, and actionable. • Research-Driven: Comfort with incorporating credible research and actionable insights into the content. • Reliability: Meeting deadlines is crucial. ________________________________________ To Apply: 1. Start your proposal with the word “Authentic” so I know you’ve read the full job description. 2. Share at least one relevant writing sample (preferably in the self-help or personal development niche). 3. Briefly tell me why you’re the right fit for this project. I look forward to working with someone who can bring this project to life and deliver exceptional value to readers!
Seeking a ghostwriter to help bring romcom series to life. Wanting a collaborator to work with long term. The ideal person for this job is witty, sharp, and knows how to write laugh-out-loud moments (think funny and sometimes crude internal thoughts, dialogue and actions - Meghan Quinn style) while keeping the heart and depth of a good love story. You should be excellent at plotting (let me know what method you use when applying) and able to create tight, engaging stories with no plot holes. These are stand-alone books, but they’ll all exist within the same series, so you’ll need to be able to collaborate and brainstorm with me to create a cohesive world. Must be able to write spicy scenes up to level 5. Stories 80k-90k. You need to be reliable and meet deadlines. We work in milestones, so communication and consistency are key. These books are written in first-person, present tense, with alternating POVs. You’ll need a strong grasp of grammar, spelling, and punctuation— clean drafts that won’t need major overhauls. Must sign NDA. Must be okay making the occasional change. Seeking an individual who can write funny, snappy dialogue, with a voice that makes readers laugh one moment and swoon the next. If you can weave humour and heart effortlessly into your writing, this may be the perfect fit. Think flirty, fast-paced, and full of chemistry—stories that leave readers smiling long after the last page. AI use is strictly not allowed, and no plagiarism will be tolerated. Every word needs to be yours, and the story should feel fresh and original. The starting rate is $0.01 per word. Minimum output is 10k words per week, but if you want to write more, we can definitely discuss that as we can occasionally do 20k and 30k. Prefer the first few milestones to be 5k so we can ensure we are on the same track. This is an ongoing project, so only apply if you’re ready to commit for the long haul. Looking for someone who can help bring these books to life. Please include a few samples of first person, present when applying.
I am looking for someone to help clean up and really make a dynamic short story (2 pages) that I'm using at the beginning of my dissertation.

Are you a passionate writer looking for a meaningful project that can change lives and inspire others? I’m looking for a ghostwriter to bring my vision for a Christian non-fiction book to life. The book will focus on themes of faith, gratitude, abundance, and trusting in God’s plan. This is a unique opportunity for the right writer to be part of something special. I’m working on building a faith-based book series on this topic, and I’m looking for a dedicated writer who wants to build a long-term working relationship. If this book is successful, I’d love to continue working with you on future projects. This book will be between 30,000 to 40,000 words and should include personal development principles, Christian scriptures, and practical guidance for readers. I have clear concepts for the chapters and will provide detailed guidance, but I need someone who can capture my heart, message, and voice on the page. If you’ve ever wanted to work on a faith-centered book project that makes an impact, this is it. Scope of the Project Word Count: 30,000-40,000 words Structure: 7-10 chapters, each covering specific themes (faith, gratitude, visualization, patience, God’s timing, etc.) Tone/Style: Warm, conversational, encouraging — like having a deep, heartfelt talk with a close friend. Content: Scriptures, life lessons, reflective prompts, and actionable exercises for readers. Tools: I will provide the key concepts, scriptures, and personal experiences to include. What I’m Looking For: Empathy-Driven Writing: Someone who can capture my heart and make the book feel personal and relatable. Faith-Based Knowledge: Understanding of Christian values, scripture, and biblical teachings. Storytelling Skills: The ability to weave in personal stories, reflection prompts, and inspiration to keep readers engaged. Collaborative Mindset: Someone open to feedback, collaboration, and ongoing communication. What You’ll Receive from Me: An outline with clear chapter topics, themes, and major concepts to include. Key scripture references and personal experiences to draw from. Regular feedback and support so we can ensure the message aligns with the vision of the book. Budget & Payment I have a budget of $100 for this project, which is a complete book (30,000-40,000 words). I understand that this is below industry rates, but I’m looking for someone who sees this as a chance to build their portfolio, break into the faith-based genre, or establish a long-term relationship for future books. If this first book is successful, I will be writing more books in the same field and would love to continue working with the same person. What Makes This Project Special? This isn’t just a “write it and forget it” project. This book will have a real impact on people’s lives. It’s designed to encourage, inspire, and help people grow closer to God. If you have ever dreamed of being part of a meaningful, faith-based project that could be part of a larger book series, this is it. How to Apply: Please send: A brief introduction — Tell me about your experience with faith-based, personal development, or non-fiction writing. A sample of your writing — This could be a short story, personal development article, or any faith-based content you’ve written. Tell me why this project interests you — I want to work with someone who sees the heart and purpose behind this book. I’m looking for someone who is passionate about sharing God’s message of faith, abundance, and trust. If this sounds like you, I’d love to hear from you. How to Become a Freelance Ghostwriter
If you have experience writing high-quality content and are skilled at writing in different voices, you might be able to put your writing skills to use as a freelance ghostwriter. Ghostwriters master a client’s writing style, creating content that the client then publishes. As a ghostwriter, you can help clients to create content that they might not have the skill or time to craft on their own.
What does a ghostwriter do?
Ghostwriters create content on behalf of other people, who will then publish the content under their own name. Ghostwriters commonly create non-fiction books and blog posts for celebrities, businesspeople, and experts who want to share their insights, thoughts, and experiences with the world.
Ghostwriting services often involve deep research. Writers delve into subjects to learn about a specific topic so that they can write about it accurately and intelligently. If the client has already published other content, the ghostwriter will need to study that content so they can write in the client’s voice.
What skills do I need to become a freelance ghostwriter?
As a freelance ghostwriter, you will create large amounts of content for others to use under their own names. Expect decent compensation because they will benefit from your work but they will not be required to credit you with a byline or list you as a co-author in the finished product. Instead, you’ll need to be able to write in the client’s voice, and they’ll publish your work as theirs.
Ghostwriters benefit from having certain key skills:
- Be able to deeply research, analyze, and understand topics to present them in written form.
- Be able to write original content for publication. That often includes but is not limited to content writing and creative writing for websites, magazine articles, blog posts, and book writing.
- Be able to compile existing information and material to create new content.
- Be familiar with content formatting for delivery through multiple mediums such as blogs, traditional publishing, ebooks, etc.
- Be able to work with other professional writers and editors to polish content.
- Be comfortable using writing software to format and edit text.
- Be able to work directly with ghostwriting clients on specific freelance writing projects.
- Understand how to adhere to strict word counts.
Since ghostwriters are unable to cite work that they have sold the rights to without permission, many ghostwriters struggle to amass a portfolio of successful work. In the old days of ghostwriting, reference requests and calls were a common way of verifying ghostwriters’ skills. Platforms such as Upwork have massively improved the process of building a portfolio of work through data anonymization.
Ghostwriter use cases
Ghostwriters are able to fill a variety of roles within businesses. Brands produce marketing materials, web copy, sales letters, and other collateral, but it’s not uncommon for one or two ghostwriters to craft the content. Ghostwriters bring value in their ability to adopt a business’ brand voice.
Further value is derived from the type and depth of research that ghostwriters carry out. This skill allows many ghostwriters to tackle book writing, content marketing, filling out biographies, and finalizing stage or video scripts. Even technical and research papers may be completed by ghostwriters.
What are the job responsibilities of a ghostwriter?
As a ghostwriter, you will need to take ownership for researching, creating, and editing content for whatever publication(s) your client plans to submit the material to. Some publications do not allow ghostwritten content, so it’s important to understand where the content will be published.
It’s similarly important to understand this because you will need to be able to meld the professional’s voice with the voice requirements of the outlet. We’ve aggregated these job responsibilities from multiple postings to hire ghostwriters and simulated some of the best requirements here for you.
- Create and develop content for blogs, marketing material, and other related ghostwriting work
- Write newsletters, whitepapers, articles, social media, blogs, and other forms of copy
- Perform research to fully understand the overarching topic and related concepts
- Follow a logical writing process for both drafting and editing
- Communicate regularly with clients to determine needs and preferences as they arise and change
- Aggregate research sources and reference materials to fulfill any and all citation requirements
- Collaborate with other freelance writers to develop increasingly expressive content for the brand
- Write quality content that adheres to the specified style guides, including the brand voice guide
- Ensure projects are completed on time
