Expert Writer and Researcher

I bring 25 years of professional expertise to the sacred process of writing. I am a published author, academically-trained scholar, and executive manager in the nonprofit world. My passion, skill, and experience place me in a unique position to assist individual and organizational clients. I offer ghost writing, editing, and research. Resumes, cover letters, Personal Statements, bios (not Wikipedia), and LinkedIn profiles are my specialty areas. In September 2007, I founded Writing the World, LLC in the Colorado area, U.S.A. I revamped my organizational website and started a blog on Hope from History in November 2013. Beginning with one editing client, I have worked with an additional twelve individuals and groups. Throughout my schooling and career, my writing has been an asset. In the early part of my professional life as a social worker, I wrote newsletter articles for the organization. I continued this journalistic strand in almost every other organization. Graduate work further strengthened my writing along with honing my critical thinking and research capabilities. With this foundation, I became a published author in 2003. I have book reviews in scholarly journals, chapters in edited collections, numerous encyclopedia articles, and my forthcoming book from Swedenborg Foundation. Starting in the nonprofit world in 1993, I became a successful grant writer and project manager. At New Foundations Nonviolence Center (1993-2005), I rose from Development Director to Executive Director. I continued in the latter capacity at Colorado Women’s Agenda (2005-6) where I developed three new programs: Inclusiveness Initiative, Grassroots Organizing, and Internship Program. I provided grant writing and editorial skills to Greater Denver Interfaith Alliance (2007-10). I worked with two primary nonprofits through my business. With Votaw Colony Museum, Inc., I co-coordinated two-day public history events held in different locations in eastern Kansas (2006-11). I especially enjoyed my project management work at BlackPast.Org (2008-13) where I obtained photo permissions for the group’s online reference center and developed a new section on African American and African Diaspora Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer (LGBTQ) history.

"Tisa was great to work with. She took all my all my disorganized and out of date resumes and turned them into one modern cohesive resume. She asked a lot of specific questions to make sure she had all the info needed. She also read a number of job descriptions in my field to gain an understanding of what I needed in a cover letter. I recommend hiring Tisa."

My client wanted to write a book on world peace which emphasized World Federation as a key way to provide the needed international structures to bring about this state of affairs. In my role as senior assistant, provided research and editing skills for the project from start to finish. I continue to work with him. In July 2014, we completed the 4th edition. His group, Perpetual Peace Initiative (PPI), commissioned Unitarian Universalist minister, Rev. Laelia Tawnamaia, to create a companion booklet, World Unity Study-Action Guide (2014). I also provide nonprofit consultation to PPI, a nonprofit founded on the principles and ideas put forth by Rev. Rudi Gelsey in Mending Our Broken World. In Fall 2014, I will facilitate an adult learning course, "Exploring World Domination & World Unity," using the study-action guide.

BlackPast.Org, my client, wanted to develop a new section on Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Queer (LGBTQ) African and African American history. As Grant Writer, I successfully secured funding for the project from Pride Foundation. In coordination with the Founder/Director of BlackPast.org, Dr. Quintard Taylor, I identified historical figures in the United States and internationally in five categories: Pacific Northwest Entries (4), U.S. Entries (54), International Entries (4), Prominent Non-LGBTQ Supporters of Gay Rights (5), Organizations (3). I helped identify the 70 entries along with writing 16 of them. These 70 entries joined thousands of others in this premiere African American and Africa Diaspora online reference center.
