Native English Content Writer and Editor (BSc hons: Biology)

I am a dedicated freelancer with a particular interest in producing written content for websites, blogs and magazines, with a preference for scientific and medical writing. I have always been passionate about biological research, as a graduate of a top UK university with a BSc (Hons) in Cellular and Molecular Biology and two years of professional experience in medical research. I am highly skilled in reading and interpreting scientific literature, and am able to effectively communicate scientific concepts to a lay audience, with experience in technical writing, web-based research and laboratory based research. I have a keen eye for detail and I am used to working with a high degree of precision and accuracy in my day to day work. I am a highly committed, motivated and hardworking individual, and can be depended upon to complete tasks to a very high standard and within an agreed deadline. I am also interested in producing lesson content for ESL classes, to help English students improve their speaking, writing and grammar skills. I am an experienced English teacher with a 140 hour combined TEFL certificate and one year of work experience in an after school academy in South Korea, where I taught both one-on-one and group classes. My students varied in age from 4 to 70, and in ability from absolute beginner to advanced, and so I have a wide range of teaching skills and the ability to effectively tailor classes to suit the individual needs of students. I am highly skilled in the production and delivery of lessons, activities, assessments and progress reports, with excellent proficiency in the use of computer software programs such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel. I have an exceptional level of understanding of English writing and grammar, having made significant educational achievements in English Language qualifications. My year spent teaching English as a foreign language to non-native speakers has furthered my understanding in this field, and has also allowed me to develop methods of clearly explaining the concepts behind the English language to students wishing to study grammar.

A client requested that I take a scientific research article and write it up into a conversational piece that their readers could engage with and enjoy. Once I had read the research article provided, I researched the topic more thoroughly. I located and read dozens of scientific articles on the subject of neuroplasticity and cognitive health to ensure that the final article would be as informative as possible. Finally, I spun this information into an interesting article that the client's readers could not only enjoy, but also trust to be accurate.
Cognitive health - a conversational article
A client requested a conversational yet informative and well-researched article about Peripheral Artery Disease, to be used by patients as an aid to understanding and managing the condition. I researched the topic using scientific literature as my source material and was able to produce a scientifically accurate (but engaging) final piece that patients can understand and relate to.
