Hello. Thank you for viewing my profile. Please hear me on the following: PR is expensive because it's REALLY hard to do well. Also... Press releases and media contacts are never guarantees of media coverage, so please don't let anyone tell you otherwise. If you truly want to be featured in the WSJ, Forbes, USA Today and other top-tier media, you must have something newsworthy to share. Press releases alone won't get you covered, and neither will "relationships with the media." Relationships are only as good as your most recent pitch or client vertical. PR experts can't call in favors - we're not in the mafia! If you want guaranteed publicity, you'll have to pay for it. Earned media is just that, earned, and it starts with providing real value to journalists and their readers/viewers. That means you must have timely, relevant information they'll want to write about to help or inform their audience. However, there ARE some paid PR options that aren't quite advertising - but still require some spend beyond a PR person's fees for time invested.
