I obtained my Ph.D. at Ryerson University. I hold a M.Sc. in Renewable & Clean Energy and a B.Eng. in Mechanical Engineering. I am specially committed and passionate about sustainability in the building sector as a solution to climate change. For working in this field, I have developed knowledge and experience in building science, building energy modelling, design of renewable energy systems (solar PV systems, wind farms, geothermal heat pumps), design and operation of HVAC systems, and indoor environmental quality (IEQ) requirements in buildings. I have more than 5 years of experience using computer building simulation tools (EnergyPlus, DesignBuilder, eQuest, OpenStudio and Wufi) to predict or analyze thermal and hygrothermal performance of building envelope components or systems, and experience in performing field studies to evaluate human thermal comfort in buildings according to standards such as ASHRAE 55. The results of the studies that I have performed in this field have been presented and reported in several publications in academic journals and scientific conferences around the world. I also have experience working with standards, specifications, or building codes dealing with performance of building envelope systems. I have been involved in the development of the Ecuadorian National Building Energy Code and National Energy Efficiency Plan, and have performed several building energy audits for industrial, commercial, and residential buildings. In addition to the above, I have experience on product design with the use of SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor, which I used in the early years of my career to create manufacturing drawings and 3D renderings. Other tools that I can use include Latex, Matlab, AutoCAD, Excel.
