Fiction & Academic Writer & Editor

Hello! I am American, originally from Nebraska, and am looking to advance my career as a creative and academic writer and author. I am applying my exceptional and multidisciplinary writing and editing skills to UpWork to gain experience to build my portfolio - concerning the special (pandemic-y) times we are currently living in! I also aim to use my competitive research skills and attention to detail to provide the best product possible for each client. I graduated in late 2019 from the University of Exeter (United Kingdom) with a Masters of Research in political psychology decision-making and research sciences. I have four years of intensive experience in professional academic research and writing, including quantitative (SPSS) and qualitative research methods. I have written many papers, studies, theses, and dissertations in Psychology, Political Science, and International Relations. However, I have worked in psychology labs, edited for government communications, and aided colleagues as a beta-reader & editor for novels. I have been writing fiction overall since I was a kid, though I have not published anything. I'm interested in sci-fi, mysteries, post-apocalyptic dystopias, philosophical thought, and even things that may seem overly macabre. I also have a good sense of humor! Things in life can be messed up, but a great way to get through it is by just laughing at it. My top skills are in detailed, concise, and clear writing, communication and interpersonal interactions, time management, and having fun while keeping things professional. These skills are imperative for getting work done in an efficient - yet enjoyable - manner! I am currently part-time employed at the University of Nebraska Medical Center as a Research Assistant for a grant writing project for the Buffett Cancer Center. Finally, my long-term goals are to be a full-time author and writer, Ph.D.-certified, and a dog mom with an insanely stocked library and tea cabinet. Jubilantly, Rachel
