I’m a veteran WordPress and Laravel Developer creating fast and easy to maintain web apps. I’ve been a full time web developer for the last 6 years and doing it as a hobby for 10 years before that. Over the years I’ve built everything from simple hobby or shop websites to large payment integrations systems handling transactions worth tens of thousands of dollars every day. There are tens of websites out there that I’ve been responsible for in some capacity. In my projects I look to keep the apps lean and fast, easy to maintain and scalable. A software project is never final and will be getting updates and changes throughout its life. Settings it up so that’s as seamless as possible is critical. ⮩ What I can do for you: ✓ Turn your PSD design into a responsive and highly interactive web app or website. On WordPress this results in a custom theme. ✓ Optimize your website speed. Can be as simple as applying caching and using a CDN or a more in depth look into the code. I mostly use Goofle Page Speed Insights and GTMetrix for benchmarking. ✓ Integrate your website with any number of external API. If you need to pull in or send out data to an external service, I can take care of that. If on Wordpress, this is usually delivered as a custom Wordpress plugin (though it can also be a custom theme) ✓ Add new functionality to your website. You need to add a contact form, or integrate an online radio service, let me know. ✓ Fix any number of issues you may have on the site. I can look into it and figure out a proper solution. ⮩ A few of the cool things I know: ✓ Pull data into web app from external APIs or CSV files ✓ Have your web app run recurring jobs to push data to external services ✓ Create all sorts of charts with Chart.js / Chartis / D3 and other ways to visualize data ✓ Turn your web pages into PDFs (either using TCPDF / DomPDF / WkHTMLtopdf or external services like ConvertAPI) ✓ Turn your data into csv, xlsx, docx or pdf files. ⮩ Languages I typically work with: ✓ PHP ✓ JavaScript (with Vue.js, jQuery, jQuery UI, as well as any package in the JS ecosystem) ✓ HTML ✓ CSS & SCSS (with Bootstrap 3, 4, and now, 5, as the starting framework) ✓ SQL (and Laravel’s Eloquent) ⮩ Custom WordPress Plugins and Themes. If you have a PSD web design (or any other formats, for example Figma), I can turn it into a proper responsive WordPress theme. If you need to add some specific functionality (talking to various APIs or doing some other type of processing), then a custom WordPress plugin is the way to go. ⮩ Laravel and Vue Single Page Web Applications (SPAs) Often, you need very interactive website where every click is instant. I usually achieve this by building a Vue.js frontend doing the pretty stuff on top of a Laravel backend handling the database. The result is an amazingly fast app that is super easy to use. ⮩ Search Engine Optimization SEO is a huge field, with many elements outside your website and immediate control. What I can do for you is to put in place all the tools you need to keep your website as search engine friendly as possible (Sitemaps, control over the meta fields, mobile, fast loading etc). ⮩ My work process - I usually do the projects on my dev server. If working on an existing website, I make a clone and work on that. - I always do a full backup of the live site before pushing any change. - I host most of my repost on GitHub and sometimes on BitBucket. - Where possible, I automate the deployment to Production process, so it runs on the click of a button. ⮩ Testing I use PHPUnit and Cypress. Pretty much all the work I do these days is following Test Driven Development (TDD) which ensures the system has an almost 100% test coverage. That way bugs are few and once fixed, are fixed forever. When Unit tests are not enough, I also put in place Cypress tests for the front end which mimic user behavior.
