My client is making an Excel file that will be used to forecast item consumption. This will help his company to be better able to prep items ahead of time and cut down on waste. He has a main sheet - Monthly Trends (Cst Cntr Comb). All other sheets are pulled from their sales system. They display for each item, how much was consumed during a month's time. The client has two things that he needs help with. First, on sheet "Monthly Trends (Cst Cntr Comb)" he needed a formula that will return the word "upper", "lower", or "forecast" in cell AV4 after comparing the number in cell U4 to the numbers in cells AH4, AI4, and AJ4. The word that is returned should be dependent which number in those three cells are equal to or greater than the number in cell U4 (closest match). For example if U4 has the number 10 and cells AH4, AI4, and AJ4, have the numbers 5, 9, and 15 respectively, then "lower" should be returned because although it is not the closest number, it is the closest match being equal to or greater than 10. The client needed this to be a formula, so that he can just double click the bottom right corner of the cell AV4 and have it do the same thing all the way down. Second, the client needed a formula that can find all items with a particular word or phrase in it, sum the numbers for items consumed, and return that summation in a new cell. For example, if I have 10 Baked Chicken Fingers and 20 Fried Chicken Fingers, I want to be able to use the formula to search for "chicken fingers", add 10+20, and return 30 in a new cell.
