English to Malay Translator | Localization Specialist

I’m a native Malay speaker who grew up in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and can fluently speak, write, and translate both Malay and English. Currently, I am full-time freelancer with a Diploma in Professional Translation, accredited by the Malaysian Translators Association & Dewan Bahasa Pustaka, Malaysia. My recent full-time job was a Lecturer at First City University, Damansara, Malaysia teaching Media & Culture, Audience & Receptions Studies, Journalism Studies and Public Speaking. (2018-2021) Previously, I was also a Broadcast Radio Journalist attached to a local radio station in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (2012-2017). I have recently transitioned into Malay translation/localization/linguistics as my current full-time career. My freelance translation journey began in 2014, starting with translating TV shows and movies for projects supplemented by subtitling firms and growing my expertise into copywriting for international firms. My area of expertise covers the industries of gaming (apps and online), Facebook quizzes, educational websites, retail, websites, apps, movies, promotional and advertising materials. I also have experience in taking on the role as a Malay Language Specialist and Malay Linguist for international firms in creating Machine Learning models and Artificial Intelligence services. In terms of my educational background, I have a Master’s Degree in Communication and Media Studies from Monash University, Caulfield, Melbourne.
