"We engaged with Linh from July 2017 to Early 2019. For most parts of the contract duration up till Q3 2018, work that was submitted was of satisfactory standards. Deadlines that were set were met with accordingly. However, sometime starting from early Q3 2018, the code quality provided by Linh started to decline. In addition, it became harder to obtain estimated completion dates for certain tasks. While Linh would always indicate that he was ready for work at anytime, it was hard to obtain an estimate on his exact availability. We would have no idea if he was actually working on our task, or coordinating other tasks with his team. As a result, it made it difficult for us internally to plan our tasks with him. Due to the extended period of partnership, we acted in good faith and assumed that he was working full-time for our project as per our initial agreement in 2017. This agreement indicated that he would be available to work 8 hours a day. As such, we never once questioned if he was working on another project at the same time and made payments to him according to the initial agreement. We understood that as a freelancer leading a team, he was bound to take on other projects. This resulted in us paying him for days even if there was no work or update from his end. In conclusion, it feels that some of the good faith was misplaced towards the end of the project. The quality of work submitted was inconsistent, sometimes good, other times patchy. While we did not expect constant levels of commitment, we were hoping that Linh could have been more transparent with us on his work schedules, which would have made it much easier for us to cooperate together. Pros: - Great for starting up an app from scratch, having something to work on as a proof-of-concept for your initial beta phase. - Easy to communicate with - Understands technical concepts with ease Cons: - Maintaining the code quality of the codebase over an extended period of time. - Hard to get estimated timelines and deadlines"
