Skilled Audio Engineer, Video Editor, and Multimedia Producer

I'm an audio engineer and video editor with over 6 years of professional experience recording, mixing, and editing audio such as podcasts and music, and 4 years of experience editing video and creating motion graphics. I am an artist and creative person at heart, and over my career I've worked with independent creators, small companies, and corporations. I love to learn about my clients' vision and value communication every step of the way to create amazing results for them. My website is chrisrubis.com PODCASTS/AUDIOBOOKS/DIALOGUE: I specialize in the production skills needed to create polished, professional sounding podcast episodes and dialogue mixes. I make purposeful edits that keep the flow of the conversation going, and can serve as an assistant producer if needed. I can mix you and your guests' voices to sound full and clear, free of distracting breaths, "uhm's", and all those weird noises you didn't know your mouth makes when you talk. I can run tools to remove background noise that your mic may have picked up. I'll mix in intros, soundtracks, and special effects to draw in your listeners. I'll also deal with making sure your audio meets technical standards like ACX, so it's ready for distribution right away. Editing and mixing for video projects is welcome here. MUSIC: I have recorded, produced, and mixed several albums, EPs, and singles, although artists typically hire me just for one or two of those stages. I specialize in mixing rock, rap, hip-hop, and funk, but between mixing records and live shows, I've worked with almost every genre at some point. I can also master your music to get it ready for digital release. I'm a musician (bassist, songwriter) myself, and I approach mixing from an artistic perspective, not just a technical one. I enjoy finding creative ways to elevate the best parts of your song and creating movement and auditory interest to create an unforgettable listening experience. VIDEO EDITING/MOTION GRAPHICS: I edit in Premiere Pro and After Effects and have experience with motion graphics, color correcting, dynamic effects & transitions, animated text, utilization of b-roll, and assembling of final cuts from multiple scenes and camera angles. I have experience working on interviews, social media clips, commercials, live music sessions, and short films. I can also serve as an assistant producer if you need some help making the final cut. LIVE EVENTS (Raleigh, NC Area & Virtual): I'm an experienced live sound engineer with 6 years of experience setting up and running live concerts, meetings, and theater. Ability to do Front-of-House as well as monitors.
