As a teacher of writing for many years, I have perfected my skills in a variety of genre and topics and am able to fill several writing niches. Here is an overview of the many services I offer: A. Children’s Rhyming Stories While we are on the subject of poetry, one of my skills which I especially enjoy performing is writing children’s stories in rhyming verse. Most of my stories teach a moral lesson or educate. The characters I create are unique and engaging for young audiences. I currently provide stories for a number of children’s publishing companies. B. Poetry I write special occasion and “gift” poems. Just tell me what you want included in your poem and give me a deadline; I’m on it! You wouldn’t believe some of the things people have hired me to write poems about; I once wrote a beautiful tribute to an ink pen. Yes, an ink pen! Just imagine what I can create for you to mark your special occasion or to honor a loved one! You will find my poetry creative and original. I do not tolerate triteness in my verse. One client used the word “phenomenal” to describe my poetry on command skills. See what you think. C. Ghostwriting Do you need help telling your story or writing your memoirs? I can turn your thoughts into an engaging work of art you will be proud of. D. Christian/Faith Based Articles I am a lifelong Christian Believer and student of the Word. I even minored in Bible at a Christian University. I currently write articles for several Christian websites and publications. I write inspirational pieces as well as exegetical. My background as a mother, public school teacher, and Sunday school teacher has given me the necessary skills to write on a child’s level when commissioned to do so, as well. I have a clear and mature understanding of Scripture and always supply “book, chapter, and verse” support for what I write. I may expound, but the Holy Spirit is the Final Word in any matter. E. English Language Arts Educational Materials I am a certified secondary ELA teacher with 30 years of experience. I have taught all diversified learning levels from special education up through senior year Advanced Placement. I write lesson plans, curriculum, assessments, literary reviews, and preparatory materials for national and state exams such as A.P. Language, A.P. Literature, SAT, ACT, etc. F. General Common Interest Articles Some of my work includes articles on current events, informational materials for non-profit and other organizations, op-ed pieces, etc. I am happy to write articles requiring a little research, but I may have to command a higher rate for such pieces, of course, depending upon the depth and scope of research required. Disclaimer: In the interest of transparency, I will tell you that if you are seeking a technical writer, I am not the droid you are looking for. I never learned to program a VCR. If you are young and don’t know what that is, Google it. We have many talented technical writers here at UpWork, however, so you will have no problem finding someone to “satisfy that niche,” if you have it. You don’t want me to write articles about how to manage stock portfolios or instruction in auto mechanics, either. We would both be disappointed with the results. I will not do your homework for you, so don’t bother to forward to me your teacher/professor’s instructions for your latest assignment. On the other hand, I would be happy to take a look at what you have written and serve as an extra pair of eyes to look it over for grammar/usage/mechanics errors and to make stylistic suggestions for revision. G. Editing See paragraph above. H. Book Reviews I’d love to read your work and write a blurb for the cover! If I can’t say anything nice, I won’t take your money. Deal?
