French/English Translator and Content Creator

My name is Christian, and I am a native English-speaking Canadian who has lived and worked in France for the last 7 years. I graduated with Honours from the University of Toronto with a B. Sc. in Psychology and Philosophy, and recently completed a French-language Master's degree in Archéologie et Histoire at the Université Nice Côte d'Azur. For the last 4 years, I have worked on both English and French content creation, copy writing, and translation for internal and external (blog-posts, press releases, website copy) communications for a hospitality chain on the Côte d'Azur. This type of work has familiarized me with the basics of SEO and localisation (adaptation of a translated text to be culturally relevant to its intended audience). As a Freelancer, I have also translated a variety of documents, including most recently a press-kit for a French medical IT company, which required delivering technical information in an accessible and clear fashion. Recent experiences also include translation and writing copy in French for a leading global market-comparison company, which requires a strong understanding of localisation. As both a content creator and translator working in the tourism industry, and an academic researcher, I am comfortable with a large variety of written works. Working in both market and academic circles, I have learned to adapt my text to different audiences. These diverse roles have also helped me to develop both a strong work ethic independently, and an approachable, professional style for team-work and team-leading.
