I have graduated from a 4 year arts degree with a 4.7 GPA average, contributed 17 articles to my university paper (The Woroni) and a one-off publication, wrote a food blog for about six months, contributed 4 full-length and 4 partially completed guides to GameFAQs. I can write to express ideas in English, Chinese and Japanese. In 2005 I completed my first game guide for Final Fantasy VIII at age 14. Playing video games was an obsession for me but I wasn't good at them, so I learned how to do it perfectly by researching other guides and writing my own ones. The formatting I used was ASCII art, since we had to submit the guides as pure text files. 2005-2009 I continued playing games and writing guides for them, but I got tired of this. Hours of what was essentially data entry (entering in endless columns of data so that my guide could have the distinction of being a "complete" walkthrough). Guides being taken down by competing writers who wanted to see their own guide at the top of the list. No one got paid for it, but they were still very competitive. 2010-2012 I actually travelled to New Zealand where I started high school at the age of 19. I was very determined to pursue a career despite the setback of never having completed year 10 or 12. I did English of course (mandatory), as well as history, classical studies, biology, and other sciences. Science may not involve as much writing, but it's important to understand the world we live in and have more rounded out knowledge. 2013-2018 I completed my university degree, which included 2 exchanges in Taiwan and Hong Kong. Not that I expected it, but both those places gave me the opportunity to study classic English literature. As I sat in a postgraduate class that I was not eligible to get any grades for, I enjoyed explaining the historical and cultural background knowledge of the Romance period of England. 2019 I did a literary Chinese course which was very difficult as it's essentially a translation course from Han dynasty Chinese to modern English.Academic Research
