I am also comfortable with social media websites such as Facebook, Instagram and Myspace. I am also familiar with hospitality booking websites such as Trivago and booking.com. I have good communication skills, I enjoy being creative but can also follow procedure, I like to find creative solutions to problems and I put my work first. I have worked as an intern in six properties, covering kitchens, housekeeping, front desk and reservations, guest relations, cost control, revenue management, food and beverage and events coordination. My longest internship was spread between three hotels and it was in Food and Beverage which included cost control, revenue management, business management, developing policies and procedures, developing advertisements, effective communication and maintaining positive guest relations. Another experience of mine was the planning, set up and running of a beerfest with two other students in my year in August 2018. I was responsible for creating the checklists for the day and for the days preceding the event, as well as arranging for merchandise with the school name and the date on them with a beerfest logo. I then ensured the area was kept clean and the guests were all satisfied and being helped efficiently. In my final year we had a capstone project where we had to open a restaurant, come up with the name, colour scheme, mission and vision statements, policies and procedures, recipes, menu's, merchandise, social media presence, cold call lists and budgets. We then had to gather all we needed, prepare our staffing and prepare the restaurant and our client base. I acted in HR and assisted with the policies and procedures as well as the disciplinary hearings and the allocation of jobs. I also worked as the storeroom manager, taking orders from the food and beverage department, creating requisition packs, controlling the amount of revenue spent on food, beverage and housekeeping chemicals and making weekly reports to the finance manager to justify the allocation of the budget. I worked for three years in the educational field of tourism and hospitality doing the research and development of training materials for ASEAN countries. I currently manage a game lodge on a Big 5 reserve in Limpopo. In school my best subjects were Sales and Marketing, Business Management, and Economics and Finance. My best practical internship was in the Food and Beverage department.
