A native of Athens, Georgia, I graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Georgia, in the footsteps of both of my parents, with a B.S. in Psychology and Public Health minor. Next, I obtained my M.A. in Educational Theatre from New York University. Most of my work was centered around how the arts can be used in prisons for rehabilitation and education. While working as a counselor in a women's prison, I earned a Graduate Certificate in Forensic Psychology. I decided to make a small career change from working with adults to working in the classroom. At University of West Florida, I went through an alternative teacher certification program, and I am certified in Drama, Art, and English. I then went on to teach high school theatre in a large, Title I School near Atlanta. I directed several plays and musicals, including a Shuler Award winner. Theatre will forever be my passion, and I continue to act and direct when I have the chance, with my most recent productions being children's musicals at the Natchez Little Theatre. I have a wide scope of work in education, arts and entertainment, nonprofits, prison reform, and mental health. I currently reside in New Orleans, Louisiana and teach High School English & Drama. I am a Doctoral Candidate at Manhattanville College with an expected dissertation defense in 2022.
