Denise Madre: Top-Rated Editor with 10+ years' experience ✅ Helping writers share their best work with their readers. The writing process is often a lonely one. From the outline to the final draft, you do most of the work alone. But along the way, you may have questions about what you’ve written. 🤔 "Does my contemporary romance have a cohesive, swoon-worthy plot?" 🤔 "Does my personal development book have a clear, compelling focus?" 🤔 "Does my inspirational memoir have a unique, engaging theme?" Then there’s the manuscript itself. The writing flows, the grammar is fine, and most of the commas are in the right place. At least… you think so. You’re not really sure. That’s where I come in. PROFILE I have been a beta reader of romance novels for over thirty years, in addition, I have many years of experience in the book industry as a manager of a Walden book store, a member of RWA (Romance Writers of America), an editor and as a writer. In my previous position as a manager of a Walden-Books store, I was required to read two to three ARC beta copies of books a week and comment on them directly to the publisher. I was to provide information on whether the book had good flow, the content and overall likability. In addition as a member of the RWA, I have frequently read and reviewed ARC copies of new novels for competitions and conferences. I routinely look for issues with flow, plot, likability of characters and overall likability of the work. I know if selected I would be able to provide you with insight into your project,Beta Reading

My grandfather designed and built houses. My father was a chemical engineer and a woodworker who constructed furniture during the weekend. I like to think that the building impulse is in my genes; my raw material is not wood and nails but rather words. My passion for language and story precipitated my choices in my studies and in my career. As an English teacher, I love teaching students who are preparing for college and careers. I have also worked with student writers who have gained national recognition for their fiction and poetry. I have helped people expand their writing to elaborate on details and I have helped writers reduce their writing to fit a particular word count. My MA in Writing Studies allowed me to focus on my passion: fiction and poetry. While in the program, I also worked with journalism, editing, and nonfiction of all sorts. I have written 3 books as well. My skills include: • Close reading for grammar, spelling, organization, syntax, etc. • Correcting issues with wording, voice, and sentence structure. • Providing feedback on content. • Providing editorial support for application essays. • Providing editorial support for essays and other works of nonfiction. • Assisting poets and fiction writers with development of their work. • Tailoring writing to a specific audience. • Tutoring individuals who want to improve their writing. I write with an awareness of purpose and audience. I will work to your specifications, trying to provide the support that you need for your written work.Beta Reading

I have written two full-length novels, ghostwritten a rom-com series, and published four short stories in various anthologies. One of my novels is on submission via my agent at Gardner Literary. Writing is my passion, and I make sure that passion translates into lovely, compelling stories. I edited books for five different authors, which included proofreading and copy editing, and I frequently assist writers in editing their query letters, synopses, and sample chapters. I love a good story, and my goal when editing is to help writers make their stories shine through. I always offer plenty of positive feedback and encouragement, but I am not afraid to address serious issues regarding plot and readability. I have an eye for detail and will do my best to edit any story down to the comma while keeping the big picture in mind and ensuring the story is told well. While I primarily work with fiction projects, my background developing code and writing technical training materials and documentation shows that I am comfortable with nonfiction projects as well. I have plenty of experience and over one hundred five-star reviews on qtCritique.Beta Reading

I have been telling stories consistently since I was performing puppet shows in the living room as a kid. While my puppet friends and I have parted ways, I still cannot stop myself from seeking out stories and comedy - whether that's in everyday conversations or in my writing. In 2012 I began working on my own personal humor blog satirizing culture, politics, and myself. Working with kids from 2016 to 2019 also gave me an insight into young minds, helping me develop my own sense of creativity and imagination. While studying to get my degree in Writing from Eastern University, I discovered my passion for collaboration as editor-in-chief of Inklings, the college literary magazine. I also had the opportunity to write several short plays alongside the actors that would be performing in them, which was a valuable lesson in learning how to write for and with other people. I am constantly using this skill as a freelancer, balancing my own creative voice with the needs of my clients. My favorite projects have been the children's books, middle grade books, and young adult novels that I have ghostwritten. However, I can write for any age, and have written many genres, from humor, to science fiction, to fantasy, and thriller. For me, the most rewarding aspect of writing is helping others find their voices through believable characters and intriguing plots. This is not the only way to tell a story, though, as I have also helped create various funny scripts for YouTube, the stage, and other types of media. Is your story already written, you just need someone else to take a look and suggest improvements? I can edit it as well, telling you the hard truths while sticking to your vision. If you have a story you'd like to tell, feel free to reach out and I'd love to discuss how I can help. As an editor, I've worked with authors from all over the world, and am currently a freelance editor with Indigo River Publishing based in Pensacola, Florida. With Indigo River, I work as an editor and as an author coach, communicating with writers to help make sure their books are as perfect as they can be - all while sticking with their original visions. I can write at a fixed rate of $0.20 per word (for books of 10,000+ words) or $0.22 per word (for books below 10,000 words). My editing rate is around $0.11 per word, depending on how extensive the edits need to be. I can work on hourly projects too, and I estimate being able to write between 400-800 words per hour and edit between 800-1,600 words per hour.Beta Reading

I'm a hard-working and enthusiastic Beta Reader/Proofreader with countless experiences in both areas. With advanced writing and book knowledge, I will be the best person to help achieve success. In addition, I am also a professional actor. Working on my craft is extremely important and my first love. Behind that love is reading a great book, exceeding around eight books, and plays monthly. My specialties are reading quickly, comprehending the material, and remembering every critical detail. I am detail-oriented, an expert in grammar and spelling, and provide quick turnaround times when possible (including 24-48 hours but with much higher rates). I won't shy away from honest feedback and harsh truths that will, in the end, benefit the author and storyteller. In addition, I will be genuinely explicit, transparent, and honest about my process as a proofreader. I strive for excellence and perfection and take my time to ensure the best work possible with no mistakes. My attention to detail is terrific, and if you expect rapid turnarounds and no recheck of work, I may not be the proofreader for you. I am your proofreader if you admire my brutal honesty, respect for this art form, and exceptional qualities/skills. I do not rush this process because I ensure quality work; I'm unsure if every proofreader acknowledges that, but I will! Recently, I have been granted experience in the virtual and personal assistant market. I flourish under pressure, have strong attention to detail, am very familiar with specific office applications, blossom by working independently, have strong organizational skills, and go above and beyond to meet & exceed tasks. Flexibility and the ability to multitask are my most vital qualities in these particular fields. I am new to this type of work, but I promise I will be the hardest-working VA or PA you have ever had, exceeding all challenges and expectations. Also, I am very much into building my resume in the voiceover sector and building my live chat support skills. As you can see, I am very hardworking, creative, and eager to embrace new interests that can keep me learning new skills.Beta Reading
