This is especially true as California advances Title 24 codes, and states across the country move to 2018 IECC and beyond, bringing in new regulations and requirements. When it comes to HVAC design, the same adage holds true: not all services are created equal! Why go for the cheapest option, when it runs the risk of costing you thousands later on? I work with Wrightsoft software to ensure a completely accurate load calculation as the basis for any system design. When selecting equipment, I don't just pick whatever is convenient and easy, or what puts cash in my pocket, but what best fits the client's preferences and the sensible load of the building. Can I calc for air conditioning in Florida? Yes! Can I calc for a mini-split heat pump in the mountains? Yes! And once that equipment is selected, I work up a duct layout based on my real-world experience building (see below), and complete the project with register location to ensure correct airflow throughout the house. This entire process is collaborative to ensure that the client is satisfied with each step. In addition to my experience in the energy and HVAC field, I have 20 years of experience as a carpenter, including many years as a contractor. My plans are precisely drawn, with the building process in mind. We provide architectural design and construction specs in one set of plans. I do connect structural design with architectural and by request provide separate shop drawings for foundation and framing plans for contractors with dimensions, lumber take off and assembly plans. We provide take-off for lumber with the precision that very limited amount of people can really do. It's 3 dimensional modeling with each framing member labeled for client verification and export to Excel document, which can be simply forwarded to your lumber supplier. Same take-off list gets on a construction drawings, so framers can check on site which lumber piece goes where and save money and time for miscuts, re-ordering and change orders. I provide all type of construction documentation, including mechanical and electrical (MEP), plumbing and gas plans with calculations as more and more cities in California now requests these plans to be a part of the submittal package.
