I provide editing services from proofreading, copy editing, and line editing to developmental editing and indexing of academic, nonfiction, financial, tax, and legal projects. I also record for Radio Talking Books and record audiobooks for Audible and Librivox. Since 2020 I have edited more than a dozen nonfiction books, three book-length dissertations, more than 50 academic journal articles, numerous master’s theses and other shorter works, and several white papers. As a retired attorney, judge, and business school professor, I've applied my expertise to subjects ranging from an analysis of the UK's system of dual-class shares, to whether the legal definition of genocide should encompass political grounds, to the environmental aspects of fast fashion, and everything in between. I recently edited and indexed a book on the unique problems of employing those with criminal histories, which was published in 2024 by Springer Nature. I have also edited nearly a dozen travel and how-to books for CZYK Publishing, an independent publisher in the United States. I have extensive experience, and particular expertise, in working with clients for whom English is a second (or third) language. I edit in MS Word and return for each project a redline with my suggested edits and explanatory comments and, when appropriate, a clean copy ready for use. I have also edited in Google Docs and in Adobe. I have certificates in editing from the University of Washington and from the University of Chicago, a doctorate in accounting/business/economics from the University of Minnesota, and a law degree from the University of Michigan. I would love to speak with you about how I can help you make your writing clear, concise, and compelling. As a first step, let's schedule an interview to discuss your project!Book Editing

In the years since I started working as freelance editor and writer, there have been projects I loved and projects that educated me. There has never been a project not worth my time. I love the great variety I witness, but I’m particularly interested in working with authors of fiction. I have training and experience in developmental editing, line editing, copyediting, and proofreading. My favorite genres/categories are: • Women’s Fiction • Young Adult • Romance • Children’s Literature • Christian Fiction • Travel/Adventure I have experience editing in many other genres and I'm happy to take a look at a sample to see if I'm a good fit for your project. I have worked with independent authors and those seeking traditional publication. Some of their testimonials for my work can be found at sara-edits.com.Book Editing

***Owner of Ink Worthy Books, a full-service editorial and publication company providing cover-to-cover services and support to self-publishing authors of soulful nonfiction.*** This is my passion, my heart’s work, and what makes me a happy camper. It is not merely my “job.” With more than thirteen years of writing, editing, and publishing experience, I have built my business around helping self-motivated writers take their ideas all the way to publication and beyond. At Ink Worthy Books, we believe that every book has the power to change the world. As a trained nonfiction book coach and developmental editor, I lead a group of skilled professionals who specialize in book editing, design, and marketing. This means that we can support an author’s entire project without risking quality due to the overworked eyeballs of one professional. This approach to self-publishing support saves you hours of searching for skilled pros in the world of one-and-done freelance giggers and alleviates the stress of managing all the details which go into publishing a book. In addition to an array of community and coaching support options, IWB’s hands-on services fall into five categories: Evaluate - Not certain what your story needs? We offer (free!) creative consult calls along with manuscript reviews to help you determine the best next step. This process saves writers both time and money because they leave with a clear idea of how to move their project forward and without having to guess. Edit - We offer three types of editing, depending on the project’s need: developmental editing, line editing, and copy editing. Because these terms are sometimes used inconsistently in the industry, we will discuss your book’s needs in detail to ensure you are confident in what type of editing support you will be receiving. Design - Our design team creates the high quality cover and interior files for all written formats (ebook, soft cover, and hardcover), all to the specification of the particular platform the writer is publishing on. This process also includes a final proofread, which ensures your book shines prior to publishing. Publication Prep - The Ink Worthy Books team helps self-publishing authors manage ALL the loose ends that need attention to prepare to publish their book: writing your author bio, crafting the back cover description and Amazon description, pricing and ISBN support, author website creation, optimization of the book’s Amazon profile, and much more! Rest assured, we can help with every step of the way! Marketing - We support writers in creating a marketing and promotion plan and materials to promote their book both leading up to and following publication. If you are looking for a line or copy edit of your manuscript draft, please see my specialized profiles for more details on how I can help! I look forward to connecting with you soon! I love to read, organize things, and help people fix their problems. I combine these interests to smooth out your manuscript with proofreading, copy-editing, and formatting to present your text in a form easily read and understood. I do not do developmental editing, but when I copy edit, I'm highly aware of content mistakes and missteps and will alert you to these. My favorite assignments are fixed-price, non-fiction projects; I’m open to both long-term and short-term contracts and will edit any document size. Please Note: While I do have a reliable satellite connection, it isn't compatible with internet conferencing requirements.Book Editing

I just launched my services on Upwork, and have been very fortunate so far. I absolutely love working on this platform. It has been extremely rewarding. WHO AM !? I'm a wildly creative writer/editor, molded by my professional training as a licensed attorney and twenty years in the film industry. Whether you need original, impeccably-written marketing material, or a nuanced polish of an academic submission, I'm your go-to resource for flawless execution. CANDOR -- If I can't help you, I'll do my best to put you in touch with the right resource. You shouldn't be left to twist in the wind. INTEGRITY -- It only takes one bad review to destroy a hard-earned reputation. In view of this, I always give it my all. Damian Johansson is from the apex of the United States, Minneapolis, Minnesota. He earned his MFA from the University of Minnesota, specializing in Creative Nonfiction. Before pursuing graduate work, he tutored Big 10 athletes, students from more than 40 countries and home languages, a high-profile felon writing her memoirs, high school students taking their first shaky steps into the stanzas of poetry, retirees parsing sentences in their life stories - and so many more. Currently, he works as an adjunct professor at the University of St. Thomas, and St. Cloud State University. He publishes in all three main genres of creative writing: Fiction, Poetry, and Creative Nonfiction. Straying outside the norm, he writes Science Fiction - what Robert Heinlein called “Speculative Fiction” - Young Adult Fiction, and writing in translation, using the Swedish he learned during his undergraduate studies to explore intersections in language. Damian was the first to teach a Science Fiction workshop in the 140-year history of the University of Minnesota. He has worked on staff at Ivory Tower at the University of Minnesota, and 9th Letter, at the University of Illinois. His work has been published in Anamesa at NYU, Juxtaprose, Rootstalk (Grinnell College), The McNeese Review, anthologized in plain china, and in other places large and small. His teaching at the University of Minnesota was featured on NBC Nightly News with Kevin Tibbles. When he’s not writing, Damian reads (sometimes too much), attempts to take arresting and artistic photographs, and examines liminal spaces through his visual and written work - those places between city and country, between intention and action, between nostalgia and pop culture.Book Editing

I graduated from the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minnesota, with a degree in Global, Cultural, and Language Studies, with minors in Russian Language and Computer Information Systems. I have been studying Russian for eight years. For several years I was involved in the language exchange program between Duluth and its Russian sister-city, Petrozavodsk. I worked as a student liaison for the duration of two of the visits of Russian students in 2015 and 2017. In the summer of 2016, I spent two months in Russia as a member of the language exchange and an intern at Petrozavodsk State University (PetrSU). During my internship, I translated and localized documents used for English-speaking international students of PetrSU. All my translations are accurate and well-written. I work diligently and will meet all deadlines.Book Editing
