Of Franco-American origin, I was born in Athens, Ohio, but moved to France at the age of two and grew up in beautiful Normandy. My parents—my mother, a dedicated teacher, and my father, a passionate teacher-researcher—instilled in me a love for reading from a very young age. Thanks to them, I developed a deep passion for literature. In school, I discovered my second love: cinema. An inspiring director introduced me to the performing arts, and we put on performances every year. Today, at Mason Ewing Corporation, I get to indulge in both of these passions. Through my books, I hope to share stories that captivate children just as they did for me. Each story comes with a moral, reflecting my commitment to teaching values of tolerance, respect, and global awareness. I've also translated all my English books into French, a task I really enjoy. I strive for precision and aim to convey the original meaning as faithfully as possible. This work helps make my stories accessible to a wider audience. Additionally, I do creative writing to help young authors and content creators produce top-quality work. By mentoring and collaborating with them, I contribute to developing new voices and innovative content. With a deep passion for both literature and cinema, I am dedicated to creating and sharing stories that inspire young minds and supporting the next generation of storytellers. Do not hesitate to contact me, and I will be happy to give 100% to successfully complete your project!BookAudio EditingVoice TalentVoice RecordingVoice ActingStorybookChildren's LiteratureFrenchTranslation - $35 hourly

I have ten years of experience creating logo designs, book and album cover illustrations, and painting portraits of people and occasionally their pets. My artwork has been featured in astronomy books, indie magazines, and several newspapers. You can see examples of my work at ArtByGarth.com. I am passionate about my craft and ready to take on new projects! I’ve had success so far as artist because I am willing to take the time to learn what my clients want and to help them find what they want when they’re not too sure. I’ve found it’s best for me to create sketches and stay in communication with patrons every step of the way. Some patrons aren’t interested in constant contact, and that’s fine too. Just know that if you hire me you won’t be waiting for several days or weeks wondering how the job is coming along. You’ll see the process every step of the way and we’ll be always be in contact through text or email, so that by the end you won’t be surprised with something you weren’t expecting. My greatest joy is helping an author craft the perfect book for their brand. I am equally skilled at shaping a book from idea to page; doing developmental and/or copyediting or proofreading at any stage; and brainstorming and storyboarding infographics, compelling charts and tables, and/or more whimsical or informative illustrations. Hello. I have been a writer for 35 years and published many times. I self-published and wrote a non-fiction book about understanding energy and frequencies in all forms and have been hired to help many others write and edit their visions. I just released my 2nd self-published book on natural remedies. I love information and have been an avid researcher for over 20 years. I enjoy wellness, science, and all kinds of technical information as well as writing geared toward marketing and creativity. I started writing poems and short stories at age 12. I also have been writing songs for almost 30 years. I have attached several samples of all styles in my profile. My background was in film and acting which led me to write many shorts, full-length features, and scenes, and was a comedy improv teacher for 20 years. I have been blogging on and off for 20 years and was a featured columnist for an online lifestyle magazine for 18 months. I can honestly say, I can write almost anything. I enjoy content writing for articles, websites, blogs, and more, and am also willing to ghostwrite. I do have some SEO writing experience as well. I was born and raised in New Jersey and have been in Southern California for almost 30 years after attending USC School of Theater for my BA. I spent my earlier time in California working and studying in the arts, film production, education, tutoring math, science, and English, teaching comedy improvisation, researching, and more. It has been my dream to continue to write professionally. I'm here to give your book, script, or content the same attention, care, and experience I have given major publishers, producers of $100M+ films, and the world's largest tech companies. Gratefully, 15 years ago, my first book was picked up by Harper Collins, debuted on Amazon at #1, and enjoyed massive publicity to the point of becoming an answer on Jeopardy(!). I've been a professional creative writer ever since, as a fiction and nonfiction book author, co-author and ghostwriter - except for the fact I also love filmmaking and screenwriting and have, again gratefully, worked directly with my fair share of Academy Award-winning producers and directors here in LA. I'm passionate about all writing and I love what I do! I can - ghostwrite your piece the way I have for major publishers. - co-author with you the way I did on a book that debuted at #1 on Amazon in true crime. - coach you through writing your book or script like I have with dozens of writers. - consult with you on story/ rewrite your script the way I have with Oscar-winning directors and producers. - help you create content and articles that grab and keep eyeballs, the way I have for Oracle VPs, etc. I also know what it's like to bare your soul and invite others to help with your creative work. It's a little bit like standing naked on a stage and I know it's not easy. I hire friends, editors, and writers to read and edit my own work all the time - we are all in this together, and we can all use help! Also deep down in my resume is the fact I've been both a high school and university Literature and Writing teacher so - I have all the grammar and style stuff covered, and I've got an extra dose of patience. It's always a priority to maintain the right voice (usually, yours) while still crafting a page-turner that absolutely nails every single beat of story structure. I'm highly collaborative and easy to work with, partially because I've, well, seen it all. Fiction, nonfiction, film, television, web3, true crime, YA, fantasy, memoir, travelogue, medical, whistleblower, biography, technical writing, comedy, drama, content creation, you name it, I've written or edited it. Apart from my nonfiction and fiction book authoring and editing, I have 25 years of experience as a filmmaker - as script supervisor, development, casting director, editor, and composer. I've done quite a bit of various film and TV work at the highest levels over the years, always training myself to learn every facet of both the literary and filmmaking worlds. When it comes to screenwriting, it sure helps to have that kind of production experience. I always look at every project - book or film, from poetry to biz docs - from a holistic, high angle view in terms of commercial viability as well as artistic integrity. It always starts with theme. So the first question is - what do you care about? What do you need people to hear? Then we drop some structure on it, pay special attention to the voice - and work it till we're happy :) I'm here to help and happy to chat. And for the heck of it, apart from the fact that I've had 6-figure book deals with Harper Collins and The Pegasus Books Group, here are some other individuals and entities I've worked with, directly: Sean Penn, Roland Emmerich, Spike Lee, Kevin Smith, Ben Affleck, Jennifer Lopez, Jerry Bruckheimer, Chris Carter, Mark Gordon, Emile Hirsch, Scott Rudin, Jim Carrey, Mel Gibson, Heath Ledger, Jackie Chan, Jennifer Garner, Mark Hamill, Meat Loaf Aday, Jack Douglas (music producer—John Lennon), Ziggy Marley, Damian and Julian Marley, Brandy, Third World, Shabba Ranks, Shaggy, Fran Drescher, David Levy (Robert Altman producer), Ed Saxon (producer Silence of the Lambs, Philadelphia, Beloved), Larry Cano (producer, Silkwood), Niels Juul (producer Martin Scorsese, Michael Mann), Roger Corman, an Elder Scroll founder, Nebula and Hugo Award-winning YA author Nnedi Okorafor, Sony, Dreamworks, Walden, Centropolis, WB, MTV, Paramount, NBC, CBS, FOX, and my own indie films as writer/ director/ producer/ editor have gone to festivals including Montreal and Gasparilla. Whew! A graduate of the Art Institute of Sacramento, with a Bachelor of Science in Graphic Design, I have been involved in design work since early 2010. I started as a freelance designer while in school and converted to being an in-house designer for various companies. Throughout my career, I've worked with a variety of software tools, including Adobe Creative Suite, XMPie, and other specialized software, allowing me to adapt to any design requirement. I have had the opportunity to work with notable clients such as Goldman Sachs and Ellitos Natural Foods, delivering high-quality design solutions that met their unique needs. I am confident in following quality control protocols, and I see myself as self-motivated and goal-driven. I can switch gears quickly when needed for certain projects, ensuring that deadlines are met without compromising quality. When I am not designing, I like to read history books (currently Gibbon’s The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire) and create art using various mediums. I enjoy receiving feedback from my directors and have significant experience working in teams, both large and small, to achieve a shared vision. At the same time, I am capable of working independently when appropriate, managing projects from concept development to final output. My goal is to collaborate with freelance clients who value creativity, efficiency, and high-quality results. I thrive in fast-paced projects where I can apply my skills to help clients achieve their design goals, whether it's building brand identity, creating marketing collateral, or producing unique visual content. EDITOR/PROOFREADER Hello, I am Maria V. Eyles at The Polished Page, a native English speaker and experienced editor/proofreader. I bring to my work more than 20 years of experience in— • light, medium, heavy editing • proofreading • rewriting • grammar, punctuation, and spelling —to render your copy correct, clean, polished, and in excellent English. I have edited a wide range of fiction and nonfiction works including brochures, blogs and books, on behalf of business professionals, novelists, and students. Lately I have been focusing on Contemporary Romances, whose structure and plot twists I am very familiar with. I take professional and personal pride in delivering clean, correct, and engaging copy perfectly suited to the intended audience. I will add value to your work by polishing it with my skills. With twenty years of copy editing experience, I will do an excellent job for you. My professional credentials include a Certificate in Copy Editing from the University of California at San Diego, and a Master's Degree in Linguistics from Stanford University. But my editing jobs and clients have been my greatest teachers. I have a special capacity to work with non-native speakers of English, having spent many years as a college educator editing works by both native and non-native speakers. Here is what one of my Upwork clients says about my work: "Maria has been amazing! I hired her to rewrite SEO articles that aren't always in the best American English. She has done a great job and saves me hours per week. As the owner of a medium-sized business, that has been a huge help for me." And another: “Maria was a pleasure to work with. She did a great job proofreading our manuscripts. All tasks were completed on time or earlier than expected. I will definitely call upon her services again.” And a third, who had written a fantasy novel: “Maria was amazing to work with! I highly recommend her. She was so kind and willing to answer my questions. Being a newbie to the world of editing/author work relationships, she helped guide me, and I do wish to hire her again when my other pieces are ready. Great work, Maria! You’re the best!” Please entrust your project to me; you won't be disappointed!BookWritingUS English DialectBook EditingDevelopmental Editing Want to browse more freelancers?
