I am a British national and native English speaker who lived and worked many years in Brazil, developing fluency in Portuguese. (I also speak business-level Spanish and French). I worked in agribusiness and biotechnology, dealing with extensive legal, regulatory and scientific documents in Portuguese as well as documents and meetings relating to more general business matters including contracts, finance, IT, employment matters, marketing materials and so on, all in Portuguese. I often translated short documents to English to brief my HQ colleagues. I also acted as translator between English and Portuguese in meetings between British and Brazilian technical specialists (and in day to day situations with my Brazilian wife). I have commissioned many translation jobs as part of my work and found that often the best results come from people who have worked in the relevant area, as opposed to just being translation specialists. Since I have spare bandwidth at the moment and enjoy translation, I thought I would try my hand at providing translation services. As well as translating documents to English, I would be interested to translate for phone calls or even meetings (in/near London, UK). I am not in this for the money, so if something is outside my area of competence I will decline rather than do a bad job. If I bid for work, please be assured that it will get my full and immediate attention. By the way, I pay a lot of attention to document formatting and have good skills with Microsoft Office packages.
