My name is Suip Rufati, I am 25 years of age with a degree in Management.
I have often wondered why I have been interested in the world of business for so long. How other topics that I studied never interested me as much as knowing the mechanics of why and how "business" takes place. My family has a long history of working as a business, may I add a successful one at that. Growing up in Croatia it felt like the world was going forward, where we just stood still. Waiting for maybe our turn one day.
I got my turn, when I had the chance to study in Lausanne, Switzerland. At the Brillantmont International School I had my first taste of a new world. Where things worked, where what was thought mattered. Here I realized so clearly the importance of seeing economies as heterogeneous organisms, working across borders of trade and ideologies, both of which have cause, cost and effect. Soon after, I moved to Vienna, to continue to study for my International Baccalaureate.
I had my first experience in managing and controlling employees when working as an intern at the Excelsior Hotel in Dubrovnik. There, I have learned the vital importance in choosing a correct leadership style for running a successful business. In my second Internship I gained some practical experience at Kohl and Partner, where I was shown an insight into how businesses work, spending many hours with the manager per day.
My curricula activities at University helped me acquire management skills and patience. Alongside my studies in Croatia I was shown the importance of a smooth cash flow in business. As Ihave always been active around my father’s restaurant business as well, taking care of staff, finance as well as occasionally stepping in as a waiter whenever necessary.
By living in so many different countries I have strongly developed my language skills and increased my cultural awareness. I now speak four languages such as Croatian as mother tongue, Albanian as the second language, English as my third and I am improving my German skills.
To expand my experience in the world of hospitality, I started working on different fleet pro passenger ships for five months 2016/2017. There I was shown every day processes in a big hospitality company and could use the skills and knowledge that I acquired in university. To broaden my spectrum and test my entrepreneurial capability, I also organized a 4-day music festival with another alumni from my university. There I was responsible for the hospitality and catering, as well as the organization of transport for DJs and bus shuttles for the visitors.
Sports had followed me since my childhood. Being active in sports, I learned about teamwork as well as having respect for others and that has greatly influenced my way of working and going about life.
In conclusion, Istrongly believe I will greatly benefit from a steep learning curve and the complex dynamics that your company offers. I always try to do more than required, and often take my own initiative as I strive to be an active participant in our ever more globalized financial world.
