For Power BI: As a freelance myself, I would import data into Power BI after cleaning and transforming (by Excel or Python). Then I would do any numerical manipulations and text manipulations so I can proceed to visualize the data. If we have multiple tables for our project, I usually do Data Modelling within Power BI to have the tables relate to each other.
