I am an artist that is working primarily with acrylic paint, but am skilled in many different mediums. I have been making art my whole life and made many transitions. Early art had a very surreal influence. I still maintain the surreal elements, but my style has evolved. College studies focused in graphic design initially. Logo design, product design, and page layout was the the main focus, but I continued to study art in different forms. At Viterbo University I focused on traditional design, including painting, drawing, sculpture. Various studies focused on figure study, art history, oil painting. I also continued to build digital based design skills. After graduating from college I managed a video store for 5 years and developed a vast knowledge of film. I am a big fan of classic cinema. I enjoy the films of Stanley Kubrick, Alfred Hitchcock, and Martin Scorsese. I did some design work for a computer business doing page layout while I worked at the video store. When the video store closed I worked briefly at a record shop, before relocating to work in theatre ticket sales for The Milwaukee Repertory Theatre and American Players Theatre. I then moved back to my hometown and became employed at Wausau Supply Co. Where i have been working since 2004. Here I am in charge of creating print ready designs for various projects. I work primarily with Adobe Photoshop, but I use many other platforms as well. I work on the side as a painter, illustrator, and graphic designer. Doing freelance work as it available, but mostly making art for myself. In the past year I have showed and sold art at the Riverfront Art Center in Stevens Point, WI and the The Corny Fish Shed in Cornucopia, WI My work is focused on portrait drawing and painting. Acrylic paint is my medium of choice, but I love to draw with ball point pen, but often times recreate my ball point pen drawings as acrylic paintings. I am always thinking of the next 10 projects, working intensely to finish my current project so i can get started on the next one. I enjoy doing freelance work because diverse subject matter can get me to focus on projects, that I may otherwise overlook. It is very important for me as an artist to be proficient in many mediums. I like to merge traditional methods with digital design for unique designs. My goal is to one day sustain myself with my artwork, but until that day I continue to do it as a hobby, stress reliever, and part-time job. Although making art is never a job to me!
