Coming from the small town of North Vernon, IN, it has taken many years to learn that I hold the key to my success. Growing up, not many people supported my choice to pursue a career in music - similarly to many others. My father believed it wasn’t sustainable or practical to become a musician and be able to make a living. In high school, my band director even told me I wouldn’t get accepted to college alone, let alone for music, because I was from Jennings County. There will always be people in our lives who are unable to see the vision you have for yourself, but that does not mean that you should stop aspiring to be who you want to be. As a growing artist, I have collaborated with many different artists on their projects. I have composed film scores for Chi Pham’s “Crunch” and Jolie Le’s “Left Behind By Time” and am now beginning a project with Susan Anthony for a documentary score. I’ve worked on interlude music for the first staging of “Til Death Do Us Part” by Teressa Shunk as well as Depauw University’s production of “Communication Doors” directed by Susan Anthony and composed music for Depauw University’s production of “Vinegar Tom” under direction of Ron Dye with fellow composers George Kolodsick, Evelyn Croy, and Zoe Kales. In January of 2025 my first orchestral composition “Taking Flight” premiered in London with the Depauw Chamber Symphony. In May of 2025 I partnered with Granger Liu to host Notes In Motion. This event was a collaboration between musicians and film artists to create a unique concert event showcasing the process of film making to music - contrasting the typical order of composing music for film. This project started in February of 2025 and the event took place at Music on the Square in Greencastle, IN on May 4th 2025. The event featured local barber shop quartet Whatever Four whose members include Chris Wurster, Chris Oldstone-Moore, Carl Singer, and Bill Wieland; The Fusion Quartet consisting of myself, Isabella Zollner, James Pennix, and Emilia Parson; and two piano duets (1) Sakura Kusano and Saki Nakashima; (2) Sakura Kusano and Granger Liu. The film was made custom for the music performed by these groups by film artists Granger Liu, Dahee Yun, and Jolie Le. I have studied flute with Dr. Leo Sussman and Tierney McClure and studied composition with Dr. Eliza Brown and William Pearson. As a flutist I have had the privilege of performing with Depauw University Band, Depauw University Orchestra, Depauw University Jazz Band, Depauw University Chamber Symphony, and several Chamber ensembles at Depauw University including The Fusion Quartet.Compositing
