I am a planetary science graduate student and an aspiring research scientist. I am also working on a project with the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory to use stress modeling software and geologic mapping based on Voyager 2 image data to determine the internal structure of Uranus' moons Miranda and Ariel including the whether they have subsurface oceans, which is important for search for life beyond Earth and for understanding the nature of the Uranus system and its satellites and how they change over time. Why is understanding how planets change over time so essential? It is cool, most Important! It also shows us how planets work, which is important for those of us who live on planets, such as Earth.
