I have been working via UpWork since 2015. In that time, I have successfully completed large-scale projects such as a butterfly identification app and an academic book on Kurdish nationalism (both from Danish to English) and a complete in-flight magazine (from Russian to English). I have also completed innumerable smaller translations of medical records, research reports and questionnaires, contracts, marketing material, property descriptions and CVs from Danish, Russian and French into English. I don't use machine translation, and I translate only into English so as to ensure that every nuance is conveyed. I love the challenge of translation; my writing in English is expressive and versatile, and I am scrupulous about researching technical vocabulary, niche idioms, institution names and so on. I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Interpreting and Translating from the University of Bradford, UK, and my PhD was based on reading and interviews conducted in Russian. I spent a year studying at the State University of Voronezh in the USSR, and a term at the State University of Leningrad (as it was then called). I have also lived in Aarhus, Denmark. I worked for a time at the European Parliament, and before that as a trainee at CERN.
