I am an experienced editor and published author using my skills to help fellow authors succeed. I started writing stories and poetry in high school and went on to study, write, and edit fantasy, science fiction, poetry, and literature at Northwest University where I earned my BA in English. Afterward, I spent two years learning from some of the greatest poets and fiction writers in the country, graduating from the University of Saint Thomas with my MFA in creative writing. Since then, I have spent thousands of hours working as a writer and editor for numerous authors. I am the official editor for authors A.A. Fouch and Jesse Roberts, and the coauthor for the YA science fiction series "Space Pioneer". My love for writing and editing has inspired me to launch into a career defined by my passion for storytelling and the written word. My greatest aspiration is to help my clients write and perfect their books—to come into their projects with just as much love and passion as they have, and to come out of them with a book that absolutely blows readers away. Writing is a long, hard journey to walk alone. I want to come alongside you, share the load, and ensure you make it to the end of the road with a smile, a laugh, an abiding satisfaction, and a sense of enchantment.Developmental EditingLine EditingCopy EditingEnglish TutoringWritingProofreadingGhostwritingAcademic EditingBook WritingNarrativePoetryShort StoryCreative Writing - $50 hourly

I'm a freelance writer who has worked in a number of different mediums over the years, doing everything from long-form essays to investigative journalism. I got my start as the music calendar editor at an alternative weekly, which entailed not only writing articles and blog posts on a daily basis but also managing their social media accounts and redesigning the interface of the calendar itself, leading to eleven times more traffic by the time I left. It's now the most popular events calendar in the Seattle area. More recently I worked as a policy analyst for former Clinton spokesman Robert Weiner, which involved researching breaking news stories and discovering fresh angles, followed up by writing opinion pieces for publication in papers around the country. My work during this time appeared in the Austin Statesman, the New Jersey Star-Ledger, and Op-Ed News, among others. I currently work as a freelance copywriter and consultant for non-profit organizations around Washington state, building web presence, social media engagement, and developing donors.Developmental EditingBlog ContentWebsite ContentCopywritingArticle WritingBlog WritingSearch Engine OptimizationJournalism WritingCopy EditingGhostwritingCreative WritingAP Style WritingEditing & ProofreadingAcademic Editing - $25 hourly

Hi! I am detail-oriented and am able to recognize grammatical/mechanical errors in writing. I have three years of experience in teaching English to high schoolers. In that time period, I have taught, tutored, and given a plethora of feedback on academic essays, personal narratives, and other creative written work. I am passionate about teaching English and American Literature, and in those positions, I have gained excellent skills in recognizing the pitfalls in others' writing and helping students improve and master their writing abilities. I majored in Mass Media and minored in English, graduating with Highest Honors from Angelo State University in 2013. During my undergraduate coursework, I gained experience as a writer for the university's student newspaper as a staff writer, copy editor, and a managing editor. In addition, The Oasis, an artistic and literary magazine, published by the Department of English and Modern Languages at ASU, selected and published a piece of my short fiction while I was enrolled. Since graduating with my B.A., I have maintained a blog when not teaching. There I have written several posts about military life, faith, and my personal journey. I am also currently working on two fictional manuscripts. Becoming an author is a dream of mine, so creative writing is something I take pleasure in and enjoy greatly. Thank you for taking a closer look at my profile. As a foreign English teacher and arts major, I have been exposed to nearly every common style of writing under the sun. I know how easy it is to mistake one word for another or entirely forget that essential comma, even for the highest-level writers. And it can be especially difficult to find one's own teeny-tiny faults when rereading through their ideas. But there's no need to go through the agony of seeing you published "your" when you intended "you're" while there are proofreaders about! My own specialty lies in proofreading, editing, and formatting/converting fiction, romance, and fantasy books, along with e-books, essays, blogs, and short stories. I've line-edited and proofread for first-time authors, new editions for seasoned authors, self-help publishers, native speakers and foreign students, startup businesses looking to reach an international audience, and even text being used in a video game. I have five years of experience traveling, working, and living abroad, usually with my PlayStation and Switch in tow. I have spent months off-grid in the woods, lived in up-and-coming cities, and practiced the lifestyle of different cultures and sub-cultures in every new place I encountered. I have a special connection with Korea, as this is where I spent my time living as a teacher and tutor, serving my local students and businesses as a long-term inhabitant who could help them with English. And now I realized, I don't have to be limited to my local community--I can smooth out student essays or proofread indie games for people around the world. To help your blog post look more professional or appeal to a growing international audience is what I do. Let's take your business to the next level of clarity and professionalism by cutting those mistakes at the bud, before anyone ever even knows they were there.Developmental EditingLifestyle & TravelWritingProofreadingCharacter DesignChicago Manual of StyleEditing & ProofreadingGrammar & Syntax ReviewEnglishCopy EditingBlog ContentBookFact-CheckingUS English Dialect - $34 hourly
