When I was first asked to volunteer at the International Relations Office in 2014, I had no idea what would be expected from me, but today, thanks to persistent work and efforts, the institution receives several projects a year, which are applied, managed, implemented and successfully closed through our office, resulting in around 1,000 students and staff who have experienced international exchange in and out and €1,300,000 acquired funds solely for the purpose of exchange through the Erasmus+ Program. The highlight of my job is a permanent change of students’ lives and perspectives. How? From the moment they step in my office experiencing the culture shock of the country to the moment they leave saying the sincerest thanks, you realize that during their stay abroad their lives are completely changed – going back home with great experiences, open horizons and a totally different mindset towards the world, which makes you think “Hey, I did a great job there!” Of course, one may think that this can be any person who loves helping other persons, but it is not just as simple as that. Besides my bachelor and master degree in International Economic Relations, my experience and skills made it all possible, including a constant improvement of everything I do every day, including: communicating in written and spoken English with people, problem-solving on daily basis, decision-making which is derived from my title and leading the office in the best way I possibly know as it is my passion. I love my team and what I love more than them is making them grow even more, both personally and professionally. But when I think about it all in a deeper self-evaluation, I realize that there is a ‘forever-student’ standing there, longing for more knowledge and skills in order to keep the pace with this fast-changing world. That is why in my “free time” you will find me putting my efforts in studying Project and Product Management or attending a German language class. In reality, in my free time you can also find me spending valuable time with the people I love, solving the biggest puzzle I can put my hands on or somewhere out there in the world, doing what I do best – travelling.
