EXPERIENCED Administrative and Legal Assistant
Having over 18 years' experience as both as an Administrative and Legal Assistant. I have a unique set of skills and a strong knowledge in both these distinct areas. I have outlined below my experience and skillet for each.
Administrative Assistant
Work experience includes but all not limited to, email and document management, calendar and file management. Scheduling and appointment setting with clients, client email follow-up reminders. Formatting required documents, preparing emails and other required to client documents and other intermediaries. Attendance at meetings and taking of notes. I am experienced in preparing and completing topic research, as well as creating power point presentations. In my position I was also responsible for ordering of all office supplies. My experience in travel management includes flight coordination, accommodations, restaurants, event booking, research for destination venues. I have experience with personal and gift shopping. I have been responsible for preparing both personal and business expense reports and invoicing and accounts receivable and payables.
I am a highly organized person who can take on a task and bring it to finish both on time and on budget. My attention to details makes sure that there is no error, and that work is complete. I enjoy more tedious tasks that require a bit more attention and finesse. I take pride in my skillset for regular invoicing and the areas of travel management.
I have worked with many different businesses over the years some of which have included general contractors, veterinarians, explosive engineers and doctors. Each company has added to my unique skill set and allowed me to expand my knowledge in different business areas. It has always been a welcomed challenge.
Legal Assistant.
As a legal assistant I was responsible for email and document management as well as both file and calendar management. Preparing and sending all correspondence with clients, Responsible for appointment setting with follow up reminders. Preparation of court documents and other required documents. Preparing court binders and trial briefs. Attendance at meetings and other appointments when required. Preparing all billing and invoicing including finalizing, sending account and statements, correspondence with regards to accounts receivables and preparing documents for all accounts payable. Reviewing court documents on behalf of lawyer. Vetting of all required materials, redacting of all materials, research, power point presentations, document and spreadsheet creation. Personal and business expense reports. I was responsible for all travel management which included flight booking and coordination, restaurant booking and coordination, venue research and booking, event booking and coordination of sites, research on local sites. Personal and business shopping.
I have worked primarily in the areas of Criminal Defense, Family, Government Collections and Aboriginal Law. I have a working knowledge in Civil Litigation, Wills and Estates, Employment and Insurance Law. I am a highly organized person with an attention for details. The legal field has taught me that there is no room for error. Working with a Criminal Defense lawyer provided me with the greatest opportunity for growth in the legal field. I was provided opportunities to learn, grow and appreciate the workings of the Judicial System firsthand. In both the areas of Family and Aboriginal law I was given a hands-on learning opportunity that has provided me with invaluable lessons, a wealth of information and experience.
