Hello! My name is Amanda Brady. To briefly introduce myself, my professional experience includes being a Program Specialist and a Special Education Teacher serving students with social, emotional, behavioral, and academic difficulties in a tier three program. Both roles were in a large school district serving 30,000+ students. I understand the importance of providing support to case managers and students and additional stakeholders regarding the IEP process. I have developed a strong understanding of special education law, SELPA local plans, eligibility criteria, data-based decision making, and continuum of services. I am well versed in a variety of programming for students with special needs. During my time as a special education teacher, I served students with social, emotional, behavioral, and academic difficulties in a tier three program. I have worked with students with Autism, Emotional Disturbance, Other Health Impairment, and Specific Learning Disability. I have developed an in-depth understanding of special education policies and procedures, classroom management, behavior management, IEP development and compliance. I have strong interpersonal and communication skills that allow me to adapt to any group or situation. I consider the needs of students beyond the classroom, including, but not limited to their home environment, cultural background, trauma, and emotional and physical well-being. My diverse background has allowed me to be well equipped to serve students in grades K-12.

A question that I often hear is: Why did you become a teacher? It's a fair question - it's not necessarily known as a lucrative field. It requires a desire - a desire to see your actions resulting in tangible change. I became a teacher so I can help support my students & see long-lasting, meaningful changes in both their approach to education as well as their seeing their success. This is a fundamental part of my character because nothing makes me feel greater joy as a teacher than hearing a child express in excitement to their parent that they succeeded in achieving a new level in a course that they were previously struggling in. I want the world to know that, I will do everything in my power to make sure that you, your child, your friend, or whomever succeed and accomplish greater heights in education.
