I have been a writer, blogger, and novelist for the past five and half years, opining mightily on sites like the Yahoo! ContributorNetwork, Examiner, Helium, DigitalJournal, HubPages, and The News Hub. I have also written for my local newspaper and published a handful of political thrillers. When it comes to producing political-based content, I'm your man! Before I became a writer, I earned Bachelor's degrees in Criminal Justice and Political Science, followed by a Master's degree in Public Administration. Then I took the road less traveled and became a teacher, receiving a post-baccalaureate certification after doing a year of graduate-level Sociology. After working as a substitute teacher for a year, and as a student-teacher for a semester, I received certifications in secondary-level social studies, English, and speech. Today, I am the Social Studies Department Chair at a 6A-sized public high school in Texas and teach both AP Economics and AP Government. I've been a wordsmith since my youth, and was a state-level extemporaneous speaker and debater in high school. In college, I was a professional comic strip artist and had a popular daily feature that ran for four years! Today, I editorialize daily and can bring enough wit and research to win any argument.Teaching EnglishScientific Literature ReviewBlog CommentingPolicy WritingEditorial WritingFiction WritingBlog WritingNews WritingEconomics - $40 hourly

I work hard at what I do and hold a high standard of excellence as evidenced by my full-scholarship to college, my summa cum laude at college, my Teacher-of-the-Year Award, and my state-champion students. I focus on process and details. This is the key. I taught public high school for 14 years, mainly teaching English, but I also taught 7 years of Spanish and 6 years of Speech and Debate. My students have gone on to become doctors, attorneys, principals, etc. In 2012 I stepped away from teaching and started my own home inspection company. I spent hours after school each night, studying the material to qualify for licensure and to gain the knowledge I needed to pass the test and to serve my clients. I now inspect hundreds of houses and commercial buildings each year for clients from all over the world. It is a continual learning process as the industry and market continue to change. My heart, however, is still with writing, researching, editing, and teaching. I am a quick learner, an avid researcher, and a stickler for detail. I would be thrilled to work with you to create a masterpiece.Teaching EnglishPublic SpeakingProfessional ToneWritingResearch & StrategyCopy EditingBook EditingProofreadingEditing & ProofreadingCopywritingBlog WritingNews WritingEbook WritingEssay Writing - $75 hourly

As a Word Wizard, I have worked magic with the beautiful nuances and seductive subtleties of our exquisite language for more than 40 years. As a Word Warrior, I have done battle against those pesky errors, both large and small, since I was in junior high, proofreading my friends' papers. I tutored English and proofed/edited papers to help make my way through college. Then I had the ultimate honor of teaching reading and writing to 7th-12th graders for 31 years. So, I definitely have the necessary skills and talents. I taught an average of five English classes every year, each with an average of 20 students. Each student wrote numerous essays, book reviews, a fully documented research paper, an original short story and a collection of poetry. I don't want to do the math, but that is an awful lot of proofreading and editing. I have always had a super critical eye for grammatical errors (yes, I'm "that one" who proofreads text messages.) However, when it comes to editing, I try to be a bit more compassionate. Thirty-one years of working with 12-18 year-olds has also sharpened my people skills. I recently retired, so now I have a very flexible schedule.Teaching EnglishContent EditingProofreadingCurriculum DevelopmentWritingCopywritingMicrosoft WordAcademic WritingUS English DialectEditing & ProofreadingCopy EditingEnglishCreative Writing Want to browse more freelancers?
