After spending over four decades in a few career fields, and helping my wife through three bouts of chemotherapy for cancer, I decided to retire as soon as my wife was eligible for Medicare. This eliminated the need for me to continue working for the health insurance. She is able to work part-time as a mental health case manager as her illness is once again in remission. We decided I should retire from the three weekly newspapers here because of the demand on my time. Retirement will give me more time to spend with my wife, Karen, our grown children and our grandchildren. However, there is only so much TV one can watch in a 24-hour day without going a bit stir crazy, and three months of complete idleness has prompted me to start looking around at possible projects that will both occupy some of my excess free time while also providing a little income so I can spoil the wife and grandkids to the extent they deserve. I enjoy writing and using my editing skills to make young writers become better writers. Prospective clients can give me a writing assignment and expect it to be finished well before deadline and be well-written. If they have a writer who just needs his/her work "polished" before publication, I am also up for that. I have had success as a journalist with several regional AP, UPI and Louisiana Press awards, as well as awards from both state teacher unions for education coverage and the state mental health association for a comprehensive special section on mental illness and the need for more funding and care options. While working with the Rapides Parish School District I also completed a course in strategic planning. In this position I wrote daily news briefs to send to area media, served as the superintendent's "press secretary" and speech writer, and as staff member leading a community involvement campaign, a strategic plan initiative, a technology plan program and a comprehensive overhaul of the district's employee pay plan schedule. I was raised in Louisiana from the age of 9, living in Florida, Puerto Rico and Texas before that as my father was stationed at Air Force bases in those area. We stayed put while he finished his 20-plus years in the service with deployments to the Philippines and Vietnam and a final year stateside in Arkansas. For purposes of potential clients, what is important to know is that I have a wide and general knowledge of many subjects. I am as comfortable discussing basketball courts as I am federal courts. Politics, religion, business, sports, human interest, education, crime/courts have all been frequent sources for my articles and features throughout the years. If additional information is needed, please be free to contact me. To view samples of my work, Google Raymond L. I'm a professional copywriter with several years of experience spent building on my prior endeavors and overall broad scope of life. I'm both capable of and enthusiastic about tackling any subject brought my way, particularly those for which I have little background or knowledge, which is an ever-shrinking body of information. While I can never know all things, I wish to spend my life learning and passing that knowledge on to others. From Plumbing to Yoga, Web Development to Pest Control, I can tackle any topic you care to bring with an engaging and informative style. Need something formal? That can be arranged, I've worked for professional speakers and government contractors alike. Looking for something more light-hearted and approachable? I've written general blogs for everything from new age sites to healthy eating blogs. I stumbled on to Upwork in May of 2017 and decided to give it a go.EnglishCopywritingArticle WritingBlog ContentBlog WritingSearch Engine OptimizationSEO WritingWritingContent Writing - $75 hourly

Sales Growth Guaranteed! ✅ #1 SEO Results on Google ✅ 5x customer orders in only 60 days! ✅ 100%-500% sales increase for most clients I'm here to write content for your webpage, landing page, or sales funnel that will increase your sales, guaranteed. My custom process is designed and tweaked to fit every client's needs, and I don't stop working until you get the results of your dreams. When you hire me, you're not buying content. You're getting my complete focus and dedication as a member of your team. I thrive on 5-star reviews, and that means I don't win unless you win. In the last two years, I have: 📈 Doubled e-mail open rates 📈 1,000x social media engagement 📈 Increased sales conversions by 500% 📈 SEO Ranked #1 on Google And in one instance, I even maxed out my client's business! We had to part ways because she literally could not handle any more customers. I'm able to achieve these results because I'm not just an expert at copywriting, but marketing as well. “So, Shane. Tell me what you specialize in? What are you best at?” I get this question often - and there IS an answer, but maybe not the one you’d expect. My “focus” or “core strength” or “expertise,” whatever you want to call it, is not a specific niche or audience or type of content. I specialize in connecting your company with the customers that want your service. That’s it. That doesn’t mean that I treat content for the health industry the same as content for the financial space. But it does mean that the guiding principle is the same. That principle is Empathy. Emotion. Understanding. Connection. Great copywriting isn’t about syntax or grammar or marketing hacks. It’s about building trust with the reader, and that can only happen when you put in the work to understand what they care about most. And that’s why I can promise you results. I know how to use my skills to connect with your audience, whomever they may be. I know it might be jarring to get such a hard and fast promise from a copywriter. So many freelancers - of all types really - are shy about promising results. And to be fair, there is a good reason for that. Copywriting is not the only factor to success. This 100% true. But great copywriting will always increase results. There is only one situation for which I cannot guarantee results: You already HAVE great copy. And if you have great copy but aren’t getting results, there is likely something else wrong with your process. Even in that situation, I can still help. Before I work with any client, I do a full audit of their marketing efforts and results. I want to be sure that my skills are a good match for your project before we join forces. If the results of that audit indicate that copy or content is not the best use of your efforts, I won’t just decline the project - I’ll give you a full rundown on exactly why I don’t think written content should be the focus of your efforts. Even if we don't work together, I want you to walk away thinking, "Boy am I glad I talked to that guy!" Reach out today and let's figure out how I can help you find success!EnglishStory EditingContent StrategyVideo EditingContent EditingProofreadingCreative WritingSales CopywritingContent WritingCopywriting - $40 hourly

Are you having trouble getting your story out? Do words escape you? Are you too busy? Or, maybe, you've written your first draft and need a solid editor before revisions. Whatever the situation, whatever the story, whatever the stage of writing you're in, I will deliver the results you need. I have over ten years of experience with the written word and constantly strive to improve my work by studying techniques, conducting research, and putting the pen to the page every single day. With me, you are in capable, meticulous hands. I've always been the sort of person who thrives in order- a creative individual that prefers ideas thrown at her, if you will. I especially enjoy watching other writers flourish, learn, and succeed; it’s one of the most rewarding things about my job. Here on Upwork, I’ve collaborated with a handful of clients on large projects that included services such as heavy editing, ghostwriting, manuscript assistance, outline production, and a slew of other assignments. I do tend to gravitate toward long-term projects, but I am open to the right short-term assignment. My communication lines are wide open for the entirety of the project, and my client has my complete attention. My writing style is fluid. I can do different voices and stylistic flares, though I do insist on realistic human/humanoid reactions inside of the narrative. On a personal level, I'm quite empathetic and, just as in real life, it's very easy for me to see through different viewpoints. This is quite useful in writing, considering how many different personalities and experiences one must adopt in order to tell a good story. I'm a lively, adaptable, personable, and overactive writer as well as a solid editor. I'm very serious about the things that I love, and writing is most certainly one of them. I truly hope that you consider me to write, edit, or assist with whatever it is that needs to be worked on, because there's nobody better for the job. Below are the current services that I offer. Most prices vary by project, but a flat-rate fee can be negotiated. Thank you for your time, and I sincerely look forward to hearing from you soon. Book Coach: Outline development Manuscript development Character development Theme/Mood development Dialogue Structure Technique Characters Relationship Dynamics As my client, you will receive: A written critique of the manuscript, and specific ways to fix it. This can also include an overview of the skeleton, character bios, scene blocking, and so forth if applicable. After the initial critique, we will rework your story fundamentals. After the fundamentals are locked in place, I will guide you toward a strong finish for your book. Beta reading: Manuscript overview Marketability overview Proofreading: A final edit to clean up any stray mistakes Developmental Editing: Heavy structure editing Creative Writing: Ghostwriting Outlining (Skeletons, scenes, characters, etc) Lore and Worldbuilding Writing Assistance, Writing Partner: One initial video consultation before the contract is initiated, free of charge. We will discuss your manuscript (or your idea for a manuscript,) how much work each of us will contribute, and whether or not we are a good fit for one another. All other video calls will be charged by the hour. As a writing partner, I will do all of the boring legwork so that you don’t have to. Research, networking, method and technique application, etc. I will also either write your outline for you or provide you with a pre-structured outline to fill in. As to genres, I generally specialize in adventure, supernatural, dark fiction, fantasy, new adult, and historical fiction. I also have experience with children’s literature, young adult, women's fiction, and romance. I have no experience in (but am open to trying) science fiction, mystery, and anything that hasn’t been named above.EnglishContemporary StyleFiction WritingBook EditingStory EditingDevelopmental EditingArticle WritingBook WritingEbook WritingRomanceGhostwritingFantasyScience FictionNovelCreative Writing - $35 hourly

I set a high bar of excellence with every endeavor I undertake. If you want a writer or editor who produces engaging, insightful, and optimized content, look no further. If you were to ask my clients what sets me apart, they would tell you that I am an excellent communicator who meets deadlines and writes copy that never needs editing. Let me help you maximize your conversions and reach a sustained level of success in reaching your targets. Here's how we begin that process: 1. Brand discovery: I learn who you are, what distinguishes you from your competition, who your target audience or ideal consumer is, and what their pain points are. We can accomplish this by a short questionnaire that I can have you fill out or a brief communication between you and me. Sometimes, a quick view of your website is all I need. 2. Brand messaging: Next, I can create the content you need to convey the messaging you want created for your brand. Content that resonates with your targets will also likely position you as a trusted leader in your field and build trust with your readership. 3. Targeted SEO strategies: When I create content, I create it to appeal to consumers you want to convert into paying customers. But I also optimize the content for the search engines to increase your brand's visibility. Appearing more prominently on search engine pages means more users will discover your brand. 4. Client feedback: Once I finish creating your content, I submit it back to you. If you want any changes, I'm happy to make them. My goal is your 100% satisfaction. Happy clients make me happy! One of my longest-running clients' feedback stated, "A truly ideal contractor. Excellent performance in every way, shape, and form." I'd love to add you to my list of happy clients. I am an efficient, knowledgeable content writer specializing in real estate or travel, but open to any interesting challenges that await me. What sets me apart from other freelancers is my conversational tone, and the fact that I make even the most boring information entertaining to read and easy to follow. I have a degree from Loyola University New Orleans in Psychology and Criminal Justice, and have worked as a professional writer (being paid to write) for 20 years, and a content writer for the last 10. I own the rising star social media company, Quatrefoil Content Creation. My clients have included everyone from single-mom startup entrepreneurs to celebrities with their own shows on A&E. My blogs have been viewed by millions of people, and I've had a few go viral: reaching over a million people in a four day period. This has happened more than once. Recently, I had a Facebook post I wrote casually in 5 minutes receive over 450 shares in under 24 hours. While technical writing with a lot of research is something that I can do, I really specialize in writing in a first-person format allowing people to visualize the environment as if they're present themselves. This is good, because it engages the reader, and allows you to branch out to folks in the general marketplace who perhaps do not have specific technical content knowledge. I'm also a super fast typist, reaching speeds of 145 words per minute with zero error, making me the fastest typist in my home state of Louisiana on record. I've transcribed for everyone from major motion picture production companies to college professors. I can't wait to work with you on your next project, creating informational, exciting content that will reach as many people as possible!
