    Kate completed a PhD in Epidemiology at the University of Guelph in 2020 and has been a Sessional Lecturer at University of Waterloo, Brock University, and McMaster University. She completed a Masters of Science in 2014 in Population Medicine and a PhD in epidemiology in 2020. Kate's theses applied an EcoHealth paradigm in Ontario and in Uganda, investigating how climate change impacted health of various population subgroups.     I am a medical scientist with experience in teaching students of medicine and nutrition. I have been involved with basic biomedical research for more than thirty years. I also conducted many randomized clinical trials in humans as a PI. • Clinical trials and drug development: I led many clinical trials related to clinical nutrition and visceral leishmaniasis (VL) with funding from USDA, Harvest Plus, University of California Davis (UC Davis), Institute for OneWorld Health (currently PATH), Drugs for Neglected Diseases Initiative (DNDi), and Government of Japan. I also worked with GlaxoSmithKline (UK) for testing and developing sitamaquine for treatment of VL. • Teaching (medical physiology, infectious diseases, and clinical nutrition): I taught undergraduate students of nutrition while working as a postdoc in UC Davis, and also supervised graduate students from UC Davis in Bangladesh. I taught physiology, biochemistry, and clinical medicine courses while working as an Assistant Professor at University of Science and Technology Chittagong (USTC) in Bangladesh. I taught diagnosis and management of infectious diseases to junior doctors and nurses when I worked at Dhaka Hospital of International Centre for Diarrhoeal Diseases, Bangladesh (icddr,b). • Public health research: I have been actively involved with the training of physicians and drug trials for elimination of VL in Bangladesh in collaboration with the Ministry of Health of Bangladesh. I was a member of the National Technical Committee for Kala azar Elimination Program in Bangladesh. I participated in many national and international meetings as a consultant and took part in decision making process of the policy makers. • Environmental health research: I am actively involved with environmental health research. our group developed techniques for wastewater analysis for detection of infectious diseases as a warning system for epidemics. • Science writing: I am working as a review editor of several high ranking journals of health and nutrition. I can help interested clients with the writing of research proposals and grant applications including the CV of the grant applicants. I can also help with copyediting of research manuscripts related to health sciences.
