I'm a skilled, experienced editor, and I'd love to help you polish your writing. I've spent most of my work life editing hundreds of fiction and nonfiction titles for publishing houses. My MVP as an editor is accurate and engaging content that removes distractions and makes it easier for readers to enjoy the story you're telling. Beyond that, I treat authors with kindness and respect. SERVICES —Proofread: This focuses on punctuation and typos but also does things that spell-checks don't catch, such as adding missing words and making sure you have the right word (e.g., "past" versus "passed"). —Copy edit: All of the above, plus editing for repetition, clarity, and flow. This is the last edit before typesetting. —Line edit: This edit improves sentence and paragraph structure, removes repetition, and queries inconsistencies or murkiness in text, events, and characters. It is a heavier edit and focuses less on typos. Most recently, I've edited cozy mysteries and romance (including romantasy) for Berkley Books, such as "Astrid Parker Doesn't Fail" by Ashley Herring Blake, "The League of Gentlewoman Witches" by India Holton, and "Plus One for Murder" by Laura Bradford. On Reedsy, my clients included C.B. Wilson (Barkview Mysteries) and Iris March ("The Broken Bridge: A Succulent Sleuth Cozy Mystery"). Back in the day, I edited literary fiction for Counterpoint and nonfiction for Perseus Books/Hachette and University Press of Kansas. I've worked on memoirs (including travel) for several publishers as well. As you can see, I enjoy working on a wide variety of subject matter. My educational background is in politics and creative writing. Currently, I'm deepening my education in permaculture, community gardening, and other topics in sustainability such as waste management.Fact Checking

At the core of my professional identity, I am deeply committed to creating narratives that resonate with every audience. My time as an editor with Straw Hut Media has allowed me to produce a suite of high-quality podcast episodes, including the acclaimed "Heartbreakers" and "Next City". With a hand in almost published verticals, I bring a literary sharpness to each project, ensuring that each script, article, and blog post not only aligns with industry trends but also surpasses them. Collaboration is key in my remote work environment, where I partner seamlessly with hosts, producers, and sound engineers. My role demands a blend of editorial skills and creative writing both on time and under budget. When you need a new voice for your brand and your story, I'm only an email away.Fact Checking

Arguably, I’ve spent too much time writing. In undergrad, I studied poly sci and philosophy, and, as liberal arts students often do, I took myself far too seriously which led to a whole lot of writing and musing on a great many topics. I even had this silly idea that others may want to know my thoughts, so I also wrote a bit for my school newspaper (in the op-Ed section, of course). When I graduated, I found myself as a professional campaigner, fundraising for US Congressional candidates. I was one of those people spamming your inbox and mailbox asking for money, so I apologize for that. However, campaigns will suck your soul away, so I went to graduate school and the London School of Economics, where I studied political economy and economic development. After graduating with my Masters I spent a bit of time as a Policy Fellow at a lobbying firm in DC, where, you guessed it, my soul was further vacuumed away. Turns out I like writing better than politicking, so go ahead and give me a hire if you’d like! I can help you with anything from research articles, content, about me pages, product description, editing, and just about anything else.Fact Checking
