Independent Filmmaker, native of Tennessee. Jae Calloway, relocated to Atlanta Ga to study the arts of Film and Music, in the late 90’s. Jae traveled to Atlanta from Memphis transferring from a business to a film student. He would soon have to take up Street Promotions, drive promotional Vans for artist and even
Promote local Night clubs, before he would get his first opportunity as assistant casting director. He managed this, all while holding down a full-time sales position in order help take care of his son and survive himself. His hunger for success out weighed any thoughts of giving up. Calloway recently finished his first, full feature Film ; “Whispers On The Lake”,(120 min feature starring Loran Lott). However before creating and editing the feat, he had a pretty rocky and humble beginning. Calloway started his career as
a model, before trying his had at acting. Playing chess with the Industry, Jae assisted casting directors (Jagerri Ent) and doubled as Cameo, in order to study the likes of : Hype Williams, David Myers, Little X, Bennie Boom and Lisa Cunningham; on set of Hip Hop Video’s : (Mystikal, “Shake it fast”, Ja Rule” Put it on me” Outkast “So fresh So Clean & Bombs over Baghdad” , Mack 10 & T.Boz “From tha Streetz” etc..transitioned to, extra work in Major Motion Pictures.”We Are Marshall”, “Warm Springs” Matthew Mcconaughey” , opposite “Kathy Bates”. This undeniable drive, helped him survive both in his personal life and at School as well; a day in a life, of a non-traditional student. His First Video “Snakes in the Grass” Snake eyez , feat Chino. (The Video saw 3.5 million Views in the first few weeks alone.) wouldn’t come for a few years more. In the meantime he kept himself busy, honing his crafts at the school, where he set up one of his earliest production companies. (Calloway Enterprises). Jae basically utilized the schools equipment and overhead as a way to make a name for himself as an up and
coming film maker. He would hire the students and staff on big productions, and even pay student teachers to allow him to stay after hours in order to meet project deadlines, interruption free. ie.. “Liquid Soul Radio Dvd”, partnering with Hidden Beach records (Beal Street Yazarah, Rudy Etc). “Atlanta Showcase Show down”, starring Emmanuel Lewis & Professor Griff , before being considered for the sole production crew for, what is know today as UFC . Calloway would later intern with Laface Records after over a year stand off. He got his break when both L.A Reid and Baby Face came into his day Job (Circuit City). He approached with cation. A couple of weeks later he received a standing ovation by the staff, for being so persistent. He liked the attention so much that he pulled stops and creatively placed himself in the
position for another Internship, turned permanent position with WHTV. A Television Station through UPN Affiliates and Comcast , which produced a platform for Urban Celebrities and Athletes. Jae began capturing footage as Videographer, aiding with the editing, coached On Air talent, Directing segment as well as hosting himself. The Show showcase and interviewed Thousands of household name.. From Sean Combs, to Kanye West to 50 cent,Fast and Furious warp Party, “Trois” wrap party, Red Light district, Ludacris Celebration, Making of the band Wrap parties, SOSO Def/Bad Boy weekend, Bet Awards,Covered Ludacris video shoot feat Field Mob “Georgia”Official Press with the Atlanta Falcons, ..etc This would propel his local stardom to an entirely new platform. Everything he shot and edited aired, every friday night across five states. The station went on to become the #1 station for 6 years in the southeast.
Calloway showed no signs of slowing down. He quickly partnered up with College room mate and started his own, International Television Show, “The Afodisiak Show”, were they would create four pilot shows for Jo berg, Cape Town and a surrounding towns in South Africa. Episodes Contained such Names As “ Charlie Wilson, Afeni Shakur, Blair Underwood, Tisha and D’wyane Campbell Martin, Kelly Rowland, D Raye Davis, Outlaws, Shock G, Too Short Miss South Africa, Boris Koodjo, Jessie Jackson etc..” Just to name a few. Shortly later another Partnership would form. This time a Dvd Magazine/ Production Company came
into existence; REEL EFX’S Before signing a joint venture with M3 (Mandy Multi Media) Calloway continued his Independent path, producing the “Hottest Dj’s in The South” documentary dvd ,under his New Solo Production Company EXPOSED CONCEPTS (2009)..(feat.. Sounds, Dj Nab’s, Greg Street, DJ Scream and DJ Drama) including twenty-five additional, well know Dj’s. Wrote Produced & Directed Whispers On The Lake, Wrote, “ Hwy 416, the Parallel Universe” (Intended for Will Smith&Eva Mendes, 120 page Full feat). Partner with Before the Fame Tv show for an episode; as well as countless others.
