I was born and raised in a working-class family in India. At an early age I was introduced to the life of an entrepreneur when my mother and aunt launched a distribution business back in India. Although I was fascinated by the operational intricacies and successes that came with the family business, I was initially discouraged by family members to adopt a risky entrepreneurial journey for myself.
However, determined to build something for myself, I independently embarked on a journey to Canada in 2014 to achieve a top-tier education that would equip me with the necessary toolkit and network to pursue entrepreneurship – in other words, to chase the ‘American dream’.
As I entered Canada with no friends, family, or connections, I initially attended Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, Canada. With a near perfect GPA at Lakehead University and recognizing the opportunity to gain access to a broader network, I ultimately transferred to
Western University to complete my undergraduate degree. Post-graduation, I ended up joining a global M&A firm where I worked with companies with an EV of up to $100M operating in the industrial and technology sectors. During my time there, I worked on multiple transactions across Canada, U.S., and the Middle East.
Although, I quickly realized that I wanted to be closer to the operations of a company which is when I decided to leave investment banking and ended up joining a high-growth digital advertising startup as the Head of Finance where he was responsible for managing the company’s operations. I worked directly alongside the CEO to grow the company from 5 employees to 30+ and scaled revenue by 5x in under 3 years. During my time there, I learnt the hard and soft skills of operating a business, something that sat well with me given my entrepreneurial background.
Most recently (~2 years ago), I launched a private equity fund where I successfully raised capital from a group of High Net Worth Individuals (HNWIs) and institutional funds to search for, acquire, and operate a business as the CEO. I have since then moved on from that venture and have decided to go back to doing what I truly enjoy, being not just a CFO but a long-term partner to small business owners. Given I have experience in investment banking, private equity investing, capital raising, and successfully scaling a business, I'm in a strong position to add significant value to other businesses looking to take their business to the next level or just looking for general strategic direction. I look forward to connecting with you and exploring how we can work together.
