Parallel I was from 2009 to 2014 director of an engineering company for surveying and geoinformatics in the north of Germany with 15 employees. From 2014 to 2020 I was Professor for Geoinformatics and Applied Geodesy at Bochum University of Applied Sciences in Germany. In spring 2020 I moved to Croatia to start a new life. During the 20 years of working experience I managed a large number of projects for the implementation of GIS and SDI in local government with focus on communication and data quality and contributed in national funded projects regarding these topics, like e.g. SmartDemography (a project to provide local governments with detailed spatial information about socio-demographic situation) and KomMonitor, a system for monitoring changes in living situations, environment, demography and mobility for larger cities in the Ruhr Valley. I was also part of the Erasmus+ funded project BESTSDI (Western Balkans Academic Education Evolution and Professional’s Sustainable Training for Spatial Data Infrastructures). My educational work focused on cartography, spatial data collection, modelling and analysis as well as the usage of spatial data infrastructures for sustainable development. My scientific focus is the analysis of human-environment interactions and the development of a spatio-cybernetic modelling environment for the support of sustainable development. My newest interest is mapping for sustainable tourism.
