Hey there! I see you're looking for a content writer. You've come to the right place. #1 writer of parenting content for AdVon Commerce for over a year. Featured blogger for startups like KeeperTax and System2. Proven reliable over years of work. Those who come to me for content are more than satisfied, and you will be too. Blog article writing is my main thing. I'm especially good at list articles and guide pieces, but I've got the experience to adapt to any needs you have. Readers love my conversational style, the way I speak to them directly like an individual. But if there's something else you need, I've still got you covered. I'm rarely content to specialize in just one thing, so I've done lots of different kinds of projects. Other services I can provide include, but are not limited to: Ghostwriting - Need someone to adopt your voice and tell your story, so that you don't have to? I'm your guy. I'm a fan of the idea that mimicry is the highest form of flattery, and as such have lots of experience getting inside the heads of others in order to better connect with them. Creative Writing - If you know anything about writing, you know that the best writers read a lot. I've read almost any type of fiction you can imagine. Books from fantasy legends like Sanderson and Goodkind, or horror giants like King, Koontz, and R.L. Stine. I've read sci-fi books including numerous old Star Wars novels and a handful of Warhammer 40k tales. I've even read a fair amount of romance, from the relatively innocent yet silly Twilight novels to significantly more outlandish titles. This immense backlog of fiction reading gives me the tools to write excellent creative works on your behalf. If you've got an idea for a book, I'd love to be the one to write it. Resume and Cover Letter Writing - As a career freelancer, I know better than most people how dreadful it can be to look for a job. I know this because I'm looking for new work every day, even when I already have as much work as I can handle. That's just a fact of life as a freelancer, but it means that I have far more than the average amount of experience making myself look good for those who would consider hiring me. If you need help landing a job interview, I'll be the one to have your back. Japanese to English Translation - I started learning Japanese a number of years ago, out of the desire to play games and enjoy other Japanese media that has never been translated to English. Though this is more of a hobby for me than anything, I will welcome any chance to localize quality Japanese content. If you're interested in any of my services, feel free to reach out at any time. I'm open to taking on new projects, and always happy to help good people.Google DocsBlog WritingContent WritingResume WritingFiction WritingJapanese to English TranslationWritingGhostwritingEnglish - $40 hourly

During my 30-year run as a writer and editor, I tried a bit of everything before finally finding my home in the glorious madness of narrative design. I've paid the bills as a comedy writer (stand-up, sketch, radio) and newspaper editor. I wrote a comic-book series endorsed by Clive Barker and edited many many others, including a whole lot of books for Scout Comics. I wrote/directed the horror movie THE WRONG HOUSE and played monsters in several other films. For the video game EPIC TAVERN, I created hundreds of quests, more than 150 playable characters with unique backstories, and did extensive worldbuilding. For MURDER ON THE MIDWAY (which I also coded), I designed dialogue trees and created a fully-functioning traveling carnival loaded with dozens of memorable characters. I recently cowrote the 10-episode audio series UNDERTOW: BLOOD FOREST and wrote the standalone audio ghost story RETURN TO BLACKOUT POINT, both of which were produced and distributed by Realm. I thrive on complexity, I have a quiet, dedicated home office deep in the Maine wilderness and impeccable references as a remote writer and editor. It is my firm belief that having worked in damn-near every storytelling medium known to humankind has prepared me to handle anything a project throws at me.Google DocsScriptwritingComedy WritingStory WritingComic WritingVideo Game DialogueWritingFiction WritingShort StoryCopywritingCreative WritingProofreadingEnglishError DetectionCopy Editing - $20 hourly

"Have you ever thought about being an editor? You're a natural." Those words were spoken to me by a full-time editor at Macmillan Publishing when I was an author publishing one of my nine books. Her question kicked off several years (2004-2011) of me moonlighting as a freelance book editor for major publishers and self-published authors outside of my primary "day job" as an internationally recognized career counselor/coach for universities, a global outplacement firm, and now private practice. In May 2024, I decided to career-counsel myself and reintroduce book editing into my life because it is my true passion. I still work as a career counselor but am in private practice with flexibility to take on book assignments. Writing and editing didn't end for me in 2011. I continued to dabble in it, including: writing and publishing the second edition of my Complete Idiot's Guide to Overcoming Procrastination with Penguin Group / Alpha in 2012; editing a highly acclaimed career guide, The Inner Compass Process, in 2021; and writing and editing articles for my field's professional web magazine from 2019-2022. I'm back and ready to get to work! How can I help bring your book idea to life or apply the finishing touches that make a manuscript ready for showtime? (Or help with any of the steps in between?) SPECIALIZATIONS I specialize in non-fiction, specifically self-help, how-to, business, memoir, and narrative non-fiction. As both a big-picture, strategic thinker and a details person, I can flex from helping to shape a book's structure or table of contents to being the comma and capitalization police. I serve as a developmental editor, line editor, copy editor, ghostwriter, beta reader, and proofreader. SUBJECT MATTER I'm subject matter agnostic as reflected in the range of my past projects: * Copy edited a book for Random House on dog breeds. * Served as developmental editor and ghostwriter for Simon & Schuster titles on antiques, pianos, and getting government contracts. * Advised a self-published author for her book on past life experiences. * Authored, edited, and served as ghostwriter for 12 career and job search guides. * Given my own degrees and experience (both professional and personal), I have special knowledge of career development, job search, psychology, personal growth, time management, adult development, learning, higher education, academia, management, organizational behavior, genealogy, misattributed parentage experiences or MPE, NPE, LDA, DC (IYKYK), memoir, the American South, and New England. * Having written and edited thousands of resumes, I've been exposed to terminology, acronyms, processes, and norms in nearly every industry and occupation in this world, from tech and finance, to social work and sciences, to environmental studies and anthropology, to law and medicine, and much, much more. HIGHLIGHTS OF MY CREDENTIALS * Author of nine non-fiction books through major publishers, including Simon & Schuster, The Princeton Review, Wiley, Penguin, and Macmillan. * As the author of The Complete Idiot's Guide to Overcoming Procrastination, you can count on me to finish what I start and make your deadlines. * Seven years of experience as a freelance editor for self-publishing authors and for Random House, Simon & Schuster, and Macmillan. * BA in psychology from Wellesley College and PhD in counseling psychology from UCLA with a concentration in organizational behavior through UCLA's graduate business school. * 2018 certificate in creative writing from Emory University (a robust seven-course program that took 18 months). Included a deep dive into the art of narrative (applicable to non-fiction, not just fiction), memoir, poetry, and the business of publishing. * 30+ years of experience as an internationally-renowned, award-winning career counselor/coach, including extensive writing and publishing of scholarly and practical articles. Held leadership and faculty roles with Georgia Tech. ABOUT MY FEES My fees range from $50-75/hr. for most editing services and typically $75-150/hr. for ghostwriting. Sometimes flat-rate project fees or a per word or per page rate make more sense. I might also bid on projects with lower rates if they sound particularly interesting to me, and I might need to charge more when complexity or accelerated turnaround times warrant doing so. BOTTOM LINE When I edit, read, and write, I am in my zone. I absolutely love it.
