I've been described as a modern day renaissance man. I hold a BA in History and an MS in Computer Science. I've taught at the high school through graduate school level since 1980 and have a variety of other professional work experience in agriculture, construction, cabinetry and auto restoration. I've been a published author for 30+ years and write a Sunday newspaper column that appears in three regional newspapers. I'm currently working on my 1219th consecutive column. I've written $5.5 million in grants with the USDE and the USDA for Wyoming Schools and write for several regional magazines. I have a very diverse background, am well read in a variety of topics with a special interest in history and travel. I've taken first place in the Wyoming Press Association annual writer's contest a dozen times since 1997 and have an equal number of runner-up and honorable mention awards. I was named the American Legion Teacher of the Year in Wyoming in 2002 and the Wyoming Coach of the year in 1988. I worked with a design team and implemented a compressed video delivery system to 100+ sites in Wyoming that offered enhanced curriculum to isolated schools across the state. I was the professional liaison between Fremont County School District 38 and a variety of construction companies that built a new K-8 school from 2009 to 2011. I've taught history, mathematics, geography, journalism and computer science since 1980 and continue to teach online history classes at Dickinson State University in North Dakota. As a coach I work well with young people and have coached six state championships, two each in football, basketball and track.Grant Writing
