HERBAL INDUSTRY SKILLS Research in Botanical Pharmacognosy and Safety for Product Development • Conduct comprehensive literature reviews on production attributes of single plants or multi-component formulas, including identity, chemical ecology, processing requirements, clinical evidence on active phytochemical fractions, their mechanisms of action, solubility, stability, matrix effects, synergy, extract concentration, dosing, toxicity, and herb-herb & HDI through the lens of metabolic pathways, focusing on both pharmacokinetic, and pharmacodynamic effects. • Develop streamlined product development processes. • Draft grant/product development proposals for stakeholders. cGMPs and Quality Control • ePortfolio (available upon request) of an MMR, BPR, & four (4) separate cGMP-compliant herbal raw material specification sheets • Apply various assessment methods to determine the identity and quality of botanicals used in herbal medicines: o Refined macroscopy, microscopy, organoleptics, chemical assays (TLC), and related botanical skills. • Implement cGMP 21 CFR 111 compliance and quality control procedures. • Identify economically-motivated & inadvertent adulterants, contaminants, and excipients present in botanical samples. • Interpret quantitative analytics and available literature to discern appropriate analytical methods, specifications, and specification ranges within a cGMP-compliant context for herbal product manufacturers. • Conduct rigorous literature reviews for claim substantiation. • FDA-compliant label editing and information panel + Supplement Facts panel creation with Adobe Illustrator Sustainability in the Supply Chain • Maintain sustainable global & regional supply chains for raw whole plant material, powders, and extracts. • Apply principles of ethical and sustainable sourcing for all plant material, whether it is wildcrafted or cultivated – i.e. FairWild, or organic and fair trade certifications – all while remaining conscious of seasonal demand and developing contingencies for market fluctuations • Work to preserve natural plant habitats and empower indigenous communities to protect biodiversity.
