What are the 2 things you have to know about me? #1 Success and curiosity are the driving forces behind everything I do. #2 My most prized quality is an unshakeable sense of self worth. But who am I anyway? I was born right after the fall of the Soviet Union in one of the satellite states. My fondest memories of childhood revolve around days spent learning with the person who instilled the aforementioned sense of self worth in me - my grandfather. He taught me well. As a direct consequence of his teaching methods, I: - Read Greek mythology anthologies in Russian and Bulgarian at age 5 - Was caught up on the Maths material for the next 3 years at age 6 - Replaced my teacher reading to the class while she graded our papers age 6 - Taught myself English starting with Cartoon Network in primary school The qualities he impressed on me stood the test of time, too. After graduating high school, I went on to: - Get a spot in one of the most coveted language departments at university - Arabic languages - Be invited to and successfully complete 2 international retail management training programs at age 18 and 19 - Become the youngest ever store manager in two international retail companies The work I did was interesting, I got to interview, select and train my staff, I got a sense of pride and respect that was astonishing to me at my young age. But, I knew I have to try something else, to see if I am as good outside the comfort of my home country. This is how I ended up in Scotland. At the time, people from my country did not have the right to work in the UK without providing evidence they don’t really need to work on account of the funds they got in the bank, so my only option was to delve into the wondrous world of freelancing. I loved the freedom - didn’t love the lack of security. Many weeks I would work 15 hour days, because I had clients that week and wasn’t sure if I am going to have any the next. My unbendable drive to succeed kept me going and ultimately paid off - I landed my UpWork Enterprise client gig and never looked back. Fast forward 11 years and here I am - still just as curious, just as driven, but infinitely more experienced and more knowledgeable. My sense of self worth has not diminished one bit - precisely the opposite. The only difference is that nowadays it's frequently backed by praise I receive both from my peers and from my team - precious acknowledgement of my excellence which both humble and elate me. You better believe I keep a folder of screenshots to pump myself up. :)Intercultural Communication

Bilingual Chinese–English editor and translator with experience across academic, legal, and business communication. I work with non-native English speakers to shape writing that’s not only grammatically correct, but culturally fluent: aligned with the expectations, tone, and context of the audience. My background includes editorial work in a national newsroom, academic communication with a Tsinghua University organizer, and independent work through Bluestar, my editing and translation practice. I specialize in documents where language alone isn’t enough, where intent, structure, and cultural rhythm matter. If you need English that reflects your message as it’s meant to be received, I help make that happen.Intercultural Communication
