I, like many other people, was what is considered an adult learner. My prior life involved me getting a degree in another field, but the fruits of labor didn't come included with that. I was given a second chance at life with full stack programming. I got my start as an intern for Vegas.com, with basic HTML, jQuery, and JavaScript, and following that then I learned (independently) NodeJS architecture, and then frameworks such as ReactJS and Vue. I was fortunate to learn ReactJS when I did, because it allowed me to master class based and object oriented programming even before Hooks were introduced. I have worked as a contractor for the US Air Force, a mid level engineer for Cigna, and I am currently working as a senior developer with a security clearance to work on behalf of the federal government. In regards to teaching, I started out working as a tutor for Nucamp, a mentor for Thinkful, and as a bootcamp success coach for Clever Programmer, where I hosted live coaching calls twice a week, and assisted students in help planning their capstone projects. I specialize in pixel perfect UI/UX design, RESTful and GraphQL API fetching (as well as React Query) making relational and non-relational database queries and mutations and building custom components in silo with Storybook. I am familiar with all of the major UI libraries (Material UI, Bootstrap, Chakra UI, TailwindCSS, Ant Design). As a tutor, I get students to understand concepts quickly and efficiently, as well as helping students learn the slow way to construct the perfect mental models of programming, so that students can internalize the solutions to problems without having ask me the same question twice. I can also properly communicate and walk the line between business interests and best coding practices so that there is no such thing as an unhappy client!
