I love doing translations and working with languages. Moreover, to gain a better understanding of the skill of translation, I completed a separate course on Translation Studies, aimed at translating from English to French, Portuguese and Spanish, and vice versa. In 2009, I graduated from my Bachelor’s Degree with full distinction and continued with a two-year Master’s Degree in Philosophy. Now, as a recent graduate, I am looking for the opportunity to use my language skills within a freelancer professional context. In the site I am quoted on the top 30 for English-French translations. I completed my studies until the end of High School in Portugal, and then came to Paris, France. Both my University Degrees were taught in French and allowed me to obtain a high level of proficiency of the language as well as in the reading of complex French texts. Moreover, having to write about those texts in essays and in both dissertations sharpened my critical thinking and improved my French writing skill. As a result, I have grown perfectly accustomed to working in French, English, Spanish and Portuguese, my mother-tongue. I have always been reading in several languages: always prefer to to read the original - if I can! Furthermore, studying convoluted subjects as such as Literature and Philosophy requires commitment, perseverance and discipline. I believe these skills to be essential in translating texts, as they enable you to work in a precise, - but also wide and open - manner with eye for detail as well as for the result and the message. In my free time, I have further practiced said skills by proofreading and editing Portuguese, English and French articles in a fan club magazine. In addition, I have often dedicated time to translation projects for small companies and the proofreading of Portuguese, English, Spanish and French texts for acquaintances. In short, I enjoy not only translating but also doing the linguistic checks of texts. Furthermore, I have good MS Office skills and some technological knowledge thanks to my interest in web design. As evidenced by my strong academic performance and side projects, I am a motivated and hard-working person. I am waiting for opportunities for me to develop myself further and to gain critical work experience. I am confident that all text translation experience is a mean to achieve my aspirations of becoming a skilled translator. Given my passion for language and translation, I know that I will bring a high level of quality to my works. Moreover, I am an extremely motivated worker, and I always aim to do an earnest and reliable job. My native language is Portuguese, but I have been learning English for years now. For already five years, I have been living in Paris, France, which improved enormously my French knowledge and rendered it more natural and cultural-submersed. I am in fact bilingual: for Portuguese and Spanish I can perfectly speak, understand and write (which means I can translate between the following languages) Portuguese (my mother tongue), French (where I did my Master thesis, and been living ever since), English (which I have studied during eight full school years) and Spanish, which I speak since childhood, for my family is from Spanish origin. I really like doing translations and I think I am quite skilled at it. I took the IBT Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) in December 2013, with a score of 112 out of 120. Therefore, actually, I am available for several translation works! Furthermore, I have also traveled a lot all Europe already and lived during - determined periods - in several European countries: one entire year in Poland; three months in the Netherlands and Ireland and now more than five years in France. Not only all this travel and living experience, but also the fact that I do poetry, make me – I think – also eligible for creative-writing, travel-article-writing, academic proof reviewing (in the languages I have mentioned), blog writing, etc. Just propose me!
