I see translation as a creative art, not a mechanical process. I take my time in order to produce an engaging, entertaining, well-written product that sounds like it was originally created in American English, not translated. Rates: (Upwork requires I post an "hourly rate," however, with translation and editing, rates are customarily per word, not per hour.) —Business Translation (Standard Italian to American English): 0.08/Word (8 US cents per word) —Literary Translation (Standard Italian to American English): 0.05/word (5 US cents per word) —Editing: (Improving existing English text to make it sound more natural and professional, which includes some rewriting as needed): 0.03/word (3 US cents per word) —Proofreading: (Fixing spelling, grammar, and style errors without significant rewriting): 0.015/word (one and one-half US cents per word) Here is the sort of work I would consider: 1) Literary translation from Italian to English. (I'm especially interested in science fiction, horror, and other genre literature.) 2) General translation from Italian to English (website content, news articles, blog posts, press releases, etc.) 3) Proofreading and improving existing text to make it sound clearer and more natural in English (this is helpful for those who speak English as a second language and want to be sure their text is free of errors and sounds natural). **Please note: I am an American, and as a professional translator I only translate into my native language. I don't translate into Italian. No matter how well one learns a second language, it's hard to write it with the style, flair, and precision of a talented native speaker. That's why translators only translate into their native language, and why you'll get the very best, most natural-sounding Italian text if you hire a professional Italian translator for your English to Italian work.
