Received MS from the Univ. of Tennessee and patent for the design and analysis. • In partnership with Oak Ridge National Labs, supported design and analysis and of high-density Toyota Prius PM motor to “leap frog” U.S. automotive manufacturers beyond their design. Co-authored paper describing the Prius technology that utilizes unique magnetic-reluctance pattern. Electric Field Machine Design • Identified recent materials advancements in polymer dielectrics that could enable commercially viable high density electric field machines. Developed analytic technique and motor design based upon the advanced dielectrics. Due to low current requirements, design shows torque densities above 20 Nm/kg in continuous operation are feasible with minimal cool requirements. • Continuing to develop manufacturing techniques to support commercial high voltage (>5kV) motor and drive designs. Received multiple patents for the technology. OPTO-MECHANICS Spectroscopy • Designed, built and tested hand-held spectrometer to identify organic substances. Design utilized single frequency LEDs to develop unique “spectral fingerprint” of targets. Filed patent based upon design. DIGITAL-TWIN & SYSTEMS SIMULATION • Using advanced hardware and software tools, built digital replication of all above-ground petroleum drilling rig systems. The simulation replicated the physics of individual components to identify contribution to larger macro systems.
