Hello! My name is Bob Christie, and I want you to know that if you want writing or editing that results in a clear and concise message to your audience with no room for misunderstanding, then I am ready to help! I have been freelancing since 2016; because most of the projects I work on are fixed price assignments, the number of Upwork hours you see on my profile is misleading. I have amassed dozens of hours writing pieces of up to 70K words and 200 pages in length. As a test preparation tutor since 2002 (SAT, ACT, and others), I have been teaching the conventions of standard written English as well as editing student essays and working with students to critique and analyze articles of varying degrees of difficulty and on a wide range of topics. Regarding mathematics, I am able to compose and explain problems from simple equations to more complex word problems. This includes my using the "Math Type" software program to ensure that equations and other mathematical notations display exactly as they should. During my career, I have also written training and instructional documentation and that has become somewhat of a niche for me as a freelancer. When you need instructions to be presented or policies to be explained, I can produce fliers or manuals that will inform your readers and not leave them confused or frustrated by poor messaging. In addition to completing longer assignments, I have written articles and blog posts on a variety of topics, many of which required research on my part. I have also ghost written a 10,000 + word ebook and composed grammar and vocabulary questions. I am comfortable working in MS Office 2016 and have a working knowledge of other desktop publishing platforms; I have recently begun to produce material in Scrivener as well. The part time nature of my tutoring allows me to spend a great deal of time on my freelance writing and editing. I am a firm believer in communication with a client whenever anything is unclear about an assignment, and I respect time frames, understanding that when you hire me, you have probably made a commitment to someone else. Please contact me, and I know that I will exceed your expectations by producing work that meets the highest standards.Teaching Mathematics

Experienced. Efficient. Finicky. Just mad about the Oxford comma! I will do your job right the first time around, which makes my services cost-effective. Do you need help diagramming a thorny English sentence? (Remember sentence diagramming??) At your service! Well, okay... I admit that it's unlikely you will require an official, actual diagram of any English sentence... Nevertheless, you WILL love it when I apply my ninja sentence-diagramming skills to untangling your dear, beloved, but knotted-up little inklings. I am the sort of screwball who is overcome with delight when I notice correctly hyphenated compound adjectives. Contrariwise, I sometimes hyperventilate with dismay when I spot incorrect usage of a possessive apostrophe or careless placement of a nominative-versus-accusative pronoun. Let me save YOU from the embarrassment of being judged on your wonky "it's" or your momentary lapse into the phrasing "go with Henry and I." (horrified gasp!!) Hire an experienced editor of professional textbooks and medical books (moi). I also offer more than 30 years of experience as a classroom teacher (English, high-school math, French, Latin, formal logic), as well as 10-plus years' experience preparing adult students for LSAT, GMAT, GRE, and MCAT/verbal exams. I have significant translation experience and a strong background in theater. Currently, I am translating a Cold-War-era book written by a French history teacher who stayed behind in Vietnam after the Communist takeover. (Fascinating! And an interesting challenge in maintaining vocabulary, voice, and strict historic fact during translation.) I have helped students with successful written applications to undergraduate programs at Princeton, Columbia, Carleton, Williams, Brown, Oberlin, Swarthmore, and Georgetown, among other schools. I have helped students write successful applications to numerous law schools, medical schools, and business schools (MBA programs). I recently edited a child psychiatrist's memoir, then went on to edit a scientific article titled "Redshift-Magnitude Invariance of SDSS Galaxies and Quasars in Anti-DeSitter Space." Whatever writing-based or French-to-English translation tasks bring you to Upwork, I hope to be able to help you accomplish them. As noted above: I will do your project right the first time around. This will spare you frustration as well as save you money. Member of Phi Beta Kappa.Teaching Mathematics

I'm currently on a career break and open to part-time freelance work. You can count on me for clear communication, high standards, and delivering work that’s thoughtful, fast, and actionable. Here are some ways I can help you: - Executive communication and presentations: Need a winning pitch deck or board-level memo? I can help you frame your arguments and tell a compelling story. - Financial analysis: I've run finance for startups at scale, managing FP&A, budgeting, revenue operations, payroll, audit and tax processes, and worked on VC/PE due diligences, including financial modeling, market sizing, GTM and pricing strategies. I'm happy to advice on this or run the numbers. - Tutoring and career guidance: Helping young people figure out their path in life is something I'm also passionate about. I can tutor you in English, Physics or Math, help prepare for standardized tests (SAT, GMAT, engineering), and work with you on resume, interview readiness and college/grad school admissions essay writing.Teaching Mathematics
