I'm a third-year Engineering student at the University of Cincinnati looking for work analyzing and interpreting data. Over the past two years I've learned Python, MATLAB, VBA for Excel, and LabView. I'm most comfortable using VBA or Python as I've spent the majority of my time coding in those languages, both professionally and academically. I love tackling difficult challenges, seeing where they take me, and what I learn from them. Most of the work I've done so far has been interpolating and extracting data through various methods in Python. My favorite coding language would have to be VBA. Something about filing through excel sheets just clicks with me. If you have any jobs requiring VBA, I'd be more than happy to help. Below I have some scripts I've written that can give you a better idea of the content I've worked with. As far as availability, I can spend 10-15 hours a week here on Upwork as I am currently in school full time.MATLAB

Objective: Seeking to get back into Software Development Started programming on a Commodore VIC-20 in 1982. I learned BASIC, ML, and Assembly on the 6502. Got away from it for awhile to join to be an Army Airborne Ranger. Got an honorable discharge in 1993 and decided to pursue a degree in Electrical Engineering. Earned a Bachelors Degree from University of Toledo and a Masters in Engineering from Wright State University. I would like to find a bridge job that will allow me to migrate from being an Engineer that mainly was a program manager that wrote requirements, and transition and concentrate on being a software developer into my semi-retirement years and life projects beyond retirement. Software Development is the part of Engineering that I loved, but only got to work on a few projects that used my patch-work of skills. I know enough C++ and MATLAB to write code for a paper I co-authored titled "Radar Scattering Statistics for Digital Terrain Models". I know a lot about radar and the math behind it, but the C++ (Borland) skills needed to write it were pretty basic. I now have a lifetime goal of learning XML, JavaScript, Python, and other scripted languages, as well as expanding what I know in C++ and other high level languages, and very interested in learning the new new language Zig. I don't really know were I stand in terms of software development skill. I seem to have a little bit of skill in everything and a master of none. I am very self motivated and will probably re-write this as gain confidence and experience as a new freelancer.MATLAB

I'm a faculty member at a university focusing on teaching engineering design to seniors. One of my main courses is a capstone design course that links external sponsors (companies, non-profits, government, etc.) with teams of electrical, computer and mechanical engineers. The vast array of projects has broadened my knowledge base and skillsets. While my initial degrees were aerospace engineering and mechanical engineering, I've added focuses in mechatronics, machine learning, and data analytics.MATLAB

I develop custom software tools for researchers to help simplify, streamline, or automate their research in whatever way is needed. I primarily work in matlab, but am proficient in other languages as well. I started this work in graduate school, when my previous experience with software development led me to often fill the role in research of developing software tools. After graduate school, my work at the Janelia Research Campus, part of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, really honed my skills into that of a software developer, and I created a large suite of tools used by many researchers there. My goal is to increase the throughput and productivity of researchers studying important questions by simplifying the day to day drudgery of coding and handling data.MATLAB
